At 37 feeling like a teenager and deeply missing my younger years

Is it normal that at the age of 37 I still feel like an 18yo? I miss my younger years, I miss the girls in high school I was too shy to talk to, I miss the carefree afternoons playing with other kids.
I've been married for 10 years but have no kids because I feel like I'm a kid myself who fell asleep and woke up 20 years later and sadly 20 years older, wondering in disbelief where did aĺl my world go??
IIN?

  • I'm 35 and I could have written this myself. Except for the high school girls part, I didn't give a shit about that when I was in high school. God do I miss the carefree summer days and minimal if any responsibilities.

I think it's because we're so busy growing up we forget to take time out every once in the while to stop and smell the roses.

It is probably quite normal, but it's not at all healthy to obsess on a past long gone. It is not a very good thing to get into the habit of doing, as you've got nothing ahead of you but getting older, with more regrets from the past.
It would be better to set yourself a goal of not having these regrets when you are looking back at 30, 40, 50, etc. from 60 or even 80.
The saddest thing in life would be to be lying on your death bed, regretting the things one didn't do. Change your ways now, before it's too late.

My friends and I got kicked off of a playground! I guess they thought we were hooligans, but we just liked talking while spinning on the round-about.

Rascals! It seems like all the roundy things in my area have been disappearing over the years. I guess they are deemed too dangerous or some pansy crap like that. I could get those things goin so fast! Wooo!

Yeah, the only one I know of that's still about around here is all rusty and hidden in some trees. It still almost works though

That's really sad but I feel like that too and I'm 14 yrs younger than you :( I never really did anything fun as a teen and I often reminisce about the cool dudes that were nice to me but I was too shy to hang out with and I really miss them...

It's very normal. I'm 32 and just got back from playing at the most awesome playground with my friends. All we ever talk about are our fond memories of our younger years and love heading out to be stupid on swings. Being an adult can be a real bore.
