How would you feel if you found out your side/belief was wrong!
I consider myself an Athesist now that I left religion. If I found out I was wrong I would be both scared, because superior beings are quite upset when you lack faith, and angry that I left i my views.
It wouldn't bother me, because my religion uplifts me, and my belief in God helps me emotionally, and spiritually. I think most people aren't too worried about whether, or not their belief system is wrong, because if they were they would believe otherwise. I think most people of faith, and atheists are fairly confident in their beliefs.
I'm agnostic atheist (leaning towards not believing). If I found out that there was a god, I still wouldn't follow him. Just because I believe something exists doesnt mean I will participate in it.
I mean in my honest opinion, being atheist IS a religion. I say that because you are still putting a title on who you are. I believe that I am God and that’s it. I am the god over my life, there is no name for that. I make the decisions as I see fit. Think about it. Even if you pray, nothing is going to happen unless you make it happen. A lot of times people get caught up in believing in some mythical god when the gag is, you’ve been making this shit happen the entire time! Who fed you, who went to work, who signed the paper work, who looked into it. You did. My point is proven and I am done here.
Well it depends whether you mean if the Christian God existed or if just A god existed.
If you mean the Christian God then I'd be completely baffled as to how he could be so powerful and godlike as to create entire worlds and intelligent species, and yet be so completely petty and stupid as to threaten us to worship him and to randomly hate certain people for their rational beliefs and natural lifestyle choices. In fact in that case, one theory of mine would be that he's some deranged mad-scientist god living among an otherwise compassionate society of more intelligent gods, who use their powers responsibly, who's illegally torturing innocent mortals. I'd hold out hope that some more powerful gods would eventually apprehend him and punish him for his crimes.
Honestly though I would bow down to him like the slave he wants me to be, for the simple reason that he basically has a gun to my head. I wouldn't be proud of it but it wouldn't be worth being tortured for enternity to stick by my principles. In fact I'd go one further and immediately try to quell all of these thoughts just in case this god could just read my mind and realise that my worshipping of him would be insincere (although if he did do that, then honestly I doubt many believers would get into heaven anyway).
If you mean just A god however, then I'd be much less baffled. My first thought would be that this "god" is in fact explainable as an alien species from another universe who induced our universe to emerge, or as someone in the real world who created our universe as a simulation in a computer. If you don't allow this though, and this god has to be proven as a real god, then I'd still be much less baffled than if it were proven to be the Christian God (or any other specific man-made god). The only reason that I don't believe that A god created the universe is because it's too presumptuous and biased towards intelligence, it also raises more questions than it answers. So then while I would be less baffled, there would still be the matter of those questions (where that god came from, what is the nature of it, why it created the universe, etc). Of course if a god was proven then every religion in the world would frantically scramble to claim that god as their own anyway, claiming that this was the same god from their scriptures and the one that receives their prayers, but really none of them would be correct (for the same reason I'd be baffled if the Christian God turned out to be true, it just wouldn't make any sense).
I'd be extremely curious as to the nature of its powers. Can they be explained by science? If not, then what is the nature of its magic? Does it even follow any laws of nature? I wouldn't believe this god has any interest in us or our ethics, because otherwise it wouldn't allow things like war and slavery to exist. In fact there'd be no reason for it not to give us an eternal immortal heaven straight away. So I wouldn't believe we can communicate to it with prayer or that it'd give us an afterlife either then. It just created the universe and then just let it get on with evolving by itself. In fact (other than the initial religious fervour and riots) I doubt that discovering that this god exists would have much impact on daily life at all. And while you might not allow this god to be explained as an alien species, it may as well be one.

See I feel like it's possible to believe that a consciousness or unexplainable force that has been called god in the past could exist without attatching it to an ideological entity. I haven't really slept in days and Ive been getting kind of incoherent and drinking a lot but I've been thinking a lot about this stuff. Straight up everything NASA produces is fake and everything on the news is just propaganda to polarize views on non-issues. All of this is a control mechanism. Religion is the same thing. But it doesn't discredit like what people are talking about when they say "god" just because religions are all fake.

Nasa is 100% fake though. They don't actually provide any evidence that they do what they say they do that stands up to any kind of forensic analysys. Not if you legitimately look at it as skeptically as you should do for any idiot who tells you he built a moon vehicle out of tinfoil and flew around in space in it. It's a tax scam and a propaganda piece rolled into one.

Sorry to hear about your insomnia though, I used to suffer from it and it's rough, affects your whole life. Hopefully it gets better for you. The only thing that helped me is having kids - became so tired all the time that it's impossible not to sleep. Probably doesn't help your situation though. Have you been to the doctor about it? If you refuse the meds then they usually refer you to a specialist which can help
to be honest if god was real id have a lot of questions I'm not a full blown atheist I'm more of a agnostic so I don't completely discount the idea.
I have my doubts from time to time and sometimes I usually think that this world isn't worth any gods time if there was such a thing.

I’m an atheist. If I found out I was wrong I’d have no choice but to believe. But I’d be angry because if it’s a superior being. Then why not make it clear that you exist. And why have you done nothing when people have used your name to murder innocent people. I’d have a lot of questions for god if it exists. Just like I have questions for religious people
I feel the same way. Also, why do you have to make everything about suffering?
I feel that hell cant exist if you believe in a just and loving god. Hell itself makes no sense. What’s worse? That the believers think their god is a monster. Or that they don’t even realize that they think that? God fearing is an actual saying.

If there is a God, and I was created in their image, they already know I will doubt the existence of a God. So I'm not worried either way.
Sometimes I think about it and think "wow, I could have had a little more fun or whatever" but I also remember that my religion really helps me as a person. Honestly, I was a huge ass theif before, and what scares you more than thinking an almighty powerful being would be really freakin' mad at me for doing that? Aside from that it just teaches you to be a better person, to own up to what you've done and take responsibility for it.

I do agree that a god doesn’t exist. It’s intellectually dishonest to state that there is no chance that a god can exist. Truthfully no one knows whether a god or gods exist. Because we can’t know. I don’t believe in god or the afterlife but I know just as much as anyone. I can’t honestly know that a god doesn’t exist just like a religious person can’t honestly know that a god does exist.
Play the game. I don’t want anybody’s faith in religion or facts to keep them from accurately answering the question.
