Bias people

Is it normal when I hear someone talk about their values or their political beliefs (which sadly seems to be almost entirely connected at this point) and they agree with EVERYTHING on their side of the political spectrum then I start to think that person is more of a team player than a good thinker. I dont understand how people who vote liberal or conservative support everything that the party they vote for does. And if their party does something stupid they always defend the decision even if it was obviously a bad call.

This to me is impossible if people were actually thinking critically and not bias. What are the odds that all these people who support their party and they also support EVERY decision made? Surely there would be occasions you heard them say "yeah that thing that trump did was silly" or "yeah biden messed up" or even vice versa "I hate trump but hes right here" or "biden did the right thing here". Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

This often happens because we dehumanize the other side. If you think "Oh hes a degenerate" or "hes a low IQ redneck" then if that person, that you subconsciously deem inferior, says something thats actually true but conflicts with your ideology, your automatic responce is resistance.

Values and politics, quite the oxymoron.

Everybody is biased, since everyone has the intellect to use the will to decide what they are disposed to or indisposed to. If one decides that they are disposed to a political party, and that they will agree with everything that political party says, that is their disposition, and it requires no less reason for them to obtain it than for you to obtain your disposition.

    • But I would say in majority of cases (i dont have the statistics to back this its an antidotal assumption) people agree with everything their party does. Idk if youve seen these youtube videos where they went to the streets and interviewed trump supporters and obama supporters.

Only they flipped what Trump and Obama did. These random people would claim they were Obama supporters and dislike Trump. Yet the interviewer would tell these people Trump policies and tell them it was Obama who did them. And these people would agree with every one of them and vice versa.

I understand that these clips are often cherry picked Im certain alot of people knew these were switched but from my experience people do this ALOT when it comes to politics. This proves alot of ppl dont even have values theyre just team players.

I don't think you quite understand what I meant. What I meant was that these people you refer to have also put thought into the matter. What their thought has led to, though, is an agreement with everything that a certain politician does, while your thought leads you to disagree with certain actions of politicians.

        • I dont think you read my whole comment. I understand exactly what you mean and Im saying I disagree. I dont believe they have put thought into it.

This is why I brought up the interview people always do where they tell Obama supporters theyre reading out Trump polcies and ask them if they agree. The obama supporter do not agree with any and say theyre awful policies. But unbeknownst to them theyre actually reading out Obama policies and the supposed Obama supporters disagreed with all of them. This proves theyre only team players.

I read it; I guess i just didn't understand what you meant.

I suppose you are correct in that they are "team players," yes, but they have still put thought into why these people are the people they agree or disagree with.

Do I agree with EVERYTHING my political party stands for? Of course not. It's just that I disagree with the majority of the opposition positions. If I can agree with 90% of a parties goal than I vote for them. If i only agree 40% than i dont.

People got to stop being so general about their ideas. All politics are grey, but if you zoom into the issues you can see the binary black and white choices. Those black and white choices are your philosophy about an issue.
