Ok so I work with this chick who is a self admitted hipster. She likes indie bands wears flowers in her hair and is a vegetarian. And she has reusable bags!!! I never met a black hipster before and never a chick. Are black hipsters becoming more popular?
Anyone can be a hipster; being a "hipster" is not designated to a specific race, sexual orientation, or gender.
It depends on your definition on what a hipster is because some people may think a black chick who listens to hard rock and hikes is a hipster(yup they exist). Although I do think in my opinion the nerdy black girls, the rocker black girls, the alternative and/or natural hair black girls that may be vegan or vegetarian are getting more attention compared to years ago but they have been around longer then we think to be honest.
She brings cloth bags along when she gets groceries instead of getting the plastic ones. This alone doesn't make one a hipster but doing so religiously believing you will save the planet is hipster.
Oh that makes sense now, I use them too but I don't see it as anything as trendy as being a hipster, it's about caring for the environment. I don't believe this alone will save the planet, but it does make a small contribution and I do other things as well which I hope make a tiny difference.
I have a different concept of what a hipster is: I understood it to be a matter of style and fashion rather than political.
