Boss is annoyed i'm coming to work on time?

Just tell him you'll come in at any time he's paying for,

Ask him to put the request in writing; and then just add the hours to your time-sheet.

If he objects first go to HR, and tell them that if they cannot resolve the situation that you are filing a complaint with the State Hour and Wage board.

Then start looking for a new job unless they shift you to work in a different department and under a different boss.

If he object to put in in writing - then I suggest that you ask him if he would arrange a meeting with HR to discuss his request for unpaid work.

Get the idea. He's a bully; and within the USA and many countries you have legal rights and can push back.

Most companies HR departments will be all over this very quickly - especially once you mention reporting them to the state (and especially if they find out the boss has done this to other employees). Lots of managers loose their positions over this stuff. Big companies cannot afford them. A state HR complaint and a possible lawsuit for unpaid OT often starts at $50,000 in legal cost of the company (and some companies have lost Millions due to unpaid wages and penalties).

So is it just he or the entire company that is a bully? You need to find out.

I had this at my first ever "proper" job.

I used to get there about 5 mins before I was supposed to start. I was at my desk and logged in and ready to work in plenty of time.

I was told that if I was "serious" about the job I would be coming in half an hour early every day. Then they told me that I should be working through my lunchbreak too.

It turned out that the people I worked for were total dickheads and did loads of stuff like this to try and squeeze everything they could out of me for free. I really wish I had been older and wiser when they did this because then I wouldn't have put up with any of it.

I come in 40 minutes early to my job and I am told that im a hard worker by bosses. Your boss sounds like a Ahole.

Did you ask a question here recently about a situation where you turned in work you needed to have finished by a certain time well before that deadline, the person who then needed to process the document failed to do so by her deadline, she then blamed you for the delay, and your boss threatened to fire you?

Coming in on time basically means coming in late again at some point in the future, since you can’t control everything from the time you wake up to the time you walk into the office, especially if you’re commuting a longer distance.

He doesn’t want to have to keep an eye on you constantly, and doesn’t trust you.

I feel like there's more to this story, like you're producing sloppy work or something and he's requiring you to come in early to have discipline.
