Boss won't let us work close to the same hours or even at all together because we are dating says its illegal to...even though we were hired while dating and we were told we could work together close to the same hours.
File a complaint with the department of labor and hold your breathe until they respond. Problem solved.
Depends on where you work, and company policy.
At my place of work, it's not allowed for upper management to have family or lovers in lower ranks of the same facility, because of potential favoritism; which means one or the other will have to relocate to another facility within the same company. However, people of lower rank can work side by side with their wives, husbands, etc.
You can try to go to HR about it, but first read the company policy, rules, etc before you file a complaint to avoid looking like a dumbass.

Maybe it's a rule he just made up on his own, because he feels a couple working together is unprofessional.
boss is a lying sack of shit. its not a federal state or city law . it might be his rule but sue his stupid ass.
