Boyfriend says he doesn't "see" my texts as an excuse. is this normal?

Hey ya'll. This has happened twice now where I'll text my bf something, like something important about work or a promotion/medical result etc., and he'll respond almost 2 days later with "oh sorry! didn't see this. hope it went well".

Normally I wouldn't be mad but it was sort of...important shit. It makes me feel kind of invalidated & gross. Is this an excuse? He likes a lot of alone time & I don't see him that much, but I found this definitely a little strange. Especially since he is on his phone almost all the time when we are together. Is this normal/he's busy or can I let it slide? He lives only a few mins down the road from me. We are in our early 20's.

Meh. Maybe he doesn’t take y’all’s relationship seriously. Or he doesn’t realize how much you rely on him emotionally. Or he does realize and he’s not mentally equipped to be supportive to you.

But definitely worth the conversation if you plan to continue this relationship. I would have it in person for obvious reasons.

Probably just being a dick but I do this all the time. For some reason it doesnt show when someone texts me half the time.

Sometimes notifications don't arrive, but if so i'd suggest you text using a different application. I recently did that with a friend who had problems with notifications on messenger, which made me suspicious my friend was only avoiding me since it was everyday, but when we switched to a different app it's no problem and we're back to texting smoothly again.
Even if he's on his phone a lot, he has to actually open the specific application you use to text in order to see he's gotten a message if it's like that. So you either tell him to check it more, tell him to check if his notifications are on, or switch to texting somewhere else. If none of those things make a difference i'd be concerned he's avoiding you and that's something you should discuss.

Sometimes I don't get text notifications. 2 days is too long though. If it's bothering you it might be worth talking to him about.
