Callus on my thumb

When I was a baby, I used to suck my thumb, then when I started getting my baby teeth I started teething on it instead of sucking it, and eventually I started biting at the skin on my thumb until it was raw (to be specific, the knuckle right below the thumb nail)... So eventually the skin on my knuckle began to callus it self, and I developed a habbit of pulling at it... and I've been doing it for over 20 years... the knuckle on my thumb is so callused up that the creases in the knuckle are completely gone... and it's so thick that if anything touches it I don't even feel a thing

Does anyone know this would even be called, am I the only one who has this? and is there a way I can get rid of it?

I would call it gross. Sounds like some sort of OCD self soothing behavior to be quite honest.

Well I promise it doesn't look that gross (atleast not anymore lol) it just looks a little odd lol... It kind looks like my knuckle is swollen, but I've been trying to get rid of it for years, I heard I might need surgery to get it removed

I have never heard of anything like that before. In order for it to heal, you would have to stop messing with it completely.

I have a writing callus on my middle finger, and the only time it goes away is if I don't write for a few months. There's still a subtle dip there, but it will never be the way it was before the callus appeared.

Your case may be different since you have been going at it for longer and likely didn't give it regular breaks to heal in between, but just leaving it alone seemed to work best for me.
