Can i hook up my phone to my tv?

I have an LG G3 cell phone and an Insignia tv. How can I hook the phone up to the tv to play videos on a bigger screen? There's an MHL cord at work, but I have read conflicting things about using MHL on a G3. Please help

    You plug the phone into the charger cord then plug the usb end into the TV and turn it to the PC setting for display

        As long as you have an HDMI port on your television. You however need an HDMI cable to plug between the adapter and the television.
