Can you be taken to court for an argument?

It's called defamation of character except the things I stated were true but they could also be taken into account as hier say.

I sent a message on my friends wall the other day about her bf and how he's disgusting, a low life and she deserves better, I continued to explain how I'm taken a back no one can see this and if I were a family member id be having a one on one. How she has low self-esteem and abandonment issues which is why she's with that low life. She hasn't done anything nor blocked me and I can't tell if she's removed the post since we are not fb friends.

Any ideas why she hasn't said anything to me ??

  • No. You can’t be taken to court for stating opinions on social media. Well you could be taken to court in rare cases, but the plaintiff would lose.

If you accused a person on social about something that wasn't true the person could sue for defamation of character. Be careful what you say. If you are not sure don't post it.

I can appreciate you point of view, but I would prefer to state such facts or opinions to a person in a more one on one situation like meeting face to face or on the phone. I don't know that such guerilla tactics will necessarily force the proverbial "come to Jesus" moment on her part. You can hope, and pray that she'll see your side of things, but there's no guarantee of course.

She could be choosing to not respond in any way, shape or form a means of no contact on her part. If she has left your angry messages intact perhaps she's hoping said messages will reflect poorly upon you amongst your mutual acquaintances.

Then again, what do I know... meh.

i see this as a gentic issue rather than a problem for the courts. often times the XX and XX friend become incompatible in the presence of the XY individual.

Slanging definition, very informal usage in vocabulary and idiom that is characteristically more metaphorical, playful, elliptical, vivid, and ephemeral than ordinary language. you complimented me without trying.
