As a musician, this is the most bizarre thing I think I’ve ever read. Music is and always has been such an integral, enriching part of my life and I couldn’t imagine going a single day without it. It’s like food or oxygen to me. Art in general is one of the few things that makes us exceptional as animals and gives our existence here meaning. I’m so sorry you feel this way.
Tbh I've never lasted for longer than a week without listening to music, it doesn't clear my mind but it does make me hyper aware of my surroundings
Do you say it feels clean because you don't have songs stuck in your head, and you no longer have associations between real life and music? Eg I used to work in a lab and whenever someone started a sentence with "I was working in the lab" I would always start singing the monster mash in my head and it would admittedly distract me a bit from what they're saying, even if just for a moment. It's a really catchy tune.
Sorry if I've misinterpreted, I'm quite interested in this idea but I listen to music a lot so I can't really imagine it.
Not listening to music or people talking is the best thing you can do for your mind. Every time a human-generated idea enters your brain through speech or music, it's altering your neural connections. In other words you're being brainwashed. That's why extroverts run the world. Wear earplugs, it's all bad.
There's a lot of good stuff out there if you look hard enough.
Once you find some current artists you really, really like, it's a lot harder to go without.
Music is pretty much everywhere so it's kinda hard to, adverts, as background noise in cities.
As I get older, I find I have less interest in music.
It kind of sucks.
When we are young, we think musicians are these "artists" but we soon learn they seldom write their own material and are basically just fakes.
Even trying to discover stuff you have never heard before gets to be a chore.
I still enjoy some music but I imagine in another five years I probably won't care at all. I wish I could enjoy it as much as when I was a teenager.
My radio is always on. Watching TV, cleaning, sleeping and even when I leave the house it's on.
Right now it’s the only escape I have from generally unpleasant reality.
