Can you offer any advice for severe insomnia?

I go through periods where I can't fall asleep. I have been this way since I was 6. Right now I've gone two weeks in a row in which I can't get more than 4 hours asleep, and I couldn't fall asleep the past two nights (well 3 last night).

What helps you sleep? Benadryl, Ny-quill, Chamomile, and Valeria don't help me when I go through a sleepless period. What else can :(

Put your mattress on the floor. I had chronic insomnia when I had my mattress on a bed frame. The night that I took it off, I slept so soundly. Limiting caffeine consumption helps. Turkey used to make me very drowsy.

Try stretching before bed. ASMR helps some people too.

Whatever you do, don't worry about it too much. That unnecessary mental burden will not help.

I feel ya. I've had insomnia since I was a kid too. I've learned to accept it maybe you should too. If you have a partner tell him or her to rub your back tell you drift away. Thats worked for me in the past, if not. Look at the bright side. You get to catch up on all that laying awake in the dark you've been missing out on. ;)

I like NyQuil - the good formulation they keep behind the pharmacy counter (no Rx needed). Not sure I'd take it every night, though.
