In my sixth grade there always used to be these group of girls and boys playing chess.. they did it when we got a 5-15 minute break from class. They were really good at the game, but I never really watched them play, or it's just that I don't remember, even though that was like 1 year ago XP
I can play, and occasionally I'll even win a game or two. But for the most part I'm pretty bad at chess.
I know what pieces move where, but I don't play. I never really got in to it.
I only ever played against my brother and it was never much fun for me. And I don't think it was fun for him either. I think I would embarrass myself in frustration if I tried to play today.
I know how to play. But I don't think I ever won. I'm way to emotional for this game.
Yep. I love Chess. My dad taught me when I was 10 or something, but I haven't played a game in a while. I think I need to be more patient when I play, though. I just go with it, instead of thinking ahead. But I can't predict what they're going to do, so I don't understand how people do that.
I've never played Chess before, But anything nerdy or geek-handed is pretty cool in my book. Checkers the board game. Chess, there is nothing wrong with it. Chess is a masterful and a mind game type of game. Very cool and thought thinking!
I've gotten a Fools Mate before. Haha. I was in the 8th grade playing against my best friend and it just.. happened. I felt like a nerd because I was so excited. But she didn't seem to care how awesome the win was.
I haven't actually played chess in ages. I used to love the game and was fairly good at it. I don't know any of the strategies for it so I wing it and I think I'm pretty successful. If I did it competitively I don't think I'd stand a chance, but who knows. I could just be underestimating myself.
I took a summer course at CC that was for one week. I sucked then and I suck now.
I know the rules and some very rudimentry strategy. My dad plays a lot of chess and he's taught me a bit before. It's great fun, I wish I had people to play it with :P
I can't find one because I'm on my phone, but I bet there's loads of free online multiplayer chess games. It would be cool if some IINers got together and played some chess ^_^
Crossed my mind too that it'd be interesting for IINers to have a couple of games leagues. Chess, Scrabble, cards, whatever. From experience, though, it's too easy for people to cheat.
I can't remember the actual words someone used against me once in online Scrabble but they were of the ilk of kwyjibo and zyzzyva. Every game we played, he got about double the highest final score I've ever seen in my life and he always refused to play in person.
Not sure if they're still up there but Yahoo! had a pretty nifty games section that I used to use about as much as I use IIN now.
Did you ever play yahoo pool? That game was the shit back in the day!
It's full of cheaters now though :(
Along with Poker, that was my favourite of all the games. I think I once spent the best part of a whole playing, trying to get my score up.
I stopped when the cheaters came and I play Pool Break Pro on the tablet or phone now. I love video pool almost as much as the real thing! :)
I'm playing one right now. Why don't we Kreate a Klan? There are two ways of playing chess on this site.
I am currently playing a person from IIN on a chess site. Maybe if you want to learn... He's not a noob on this site he's gold membership ship
I did try to learn from a few online sources but I just didn't get a good grasp on it. I need hands-on instruction in things like this. Dappled told me long ago to try to learn with a person rather than playing vs the computer, too!
He also nearly replied to you last night to say that he thought you'd make an interesting opponent and was on the brink of offering to play against you online when he remembered trying to teach someone else online and how frustrating it was to not be in person. You really need to be able to point to stuff so you can show lines of attack, areas of threat and vulnerabilities.
I think you'd pretty soon outclass me because my playing style is overly aggressive and arrogant, whereas you come across as someone who could set traps and play against your forthright nature in real life. I don't think your aggression would leave you as vulnerable as mine leaves me.
