huh, that's pretty unusual. i'd suggest doing some research on cat behavior/body language because maybe it's acting like a chair somehow, but is really trying to communicate something else, like a need to play or a fear of something in the household environment. also, I agree with the poster above: when you're all through with that, you and your cat can watch some 'seinfeld'! hope everything works out for you and your cat!!! :3

Maybe your cat thinks that it's a sofa? Have you and your cat discussed this? I suggest you do. Cats are very devious creatures. How do you know your cat is telling you the truth about what it is thinking? Just take your cat's word for it, eh? That sounds a bit foolish to me.
