Cats wiping butt on carpet

First off, i know this is not a "Is it normal" question because i know it's not.
he has been wiping his butt on the carpet for over 6 months, just took him to the vet, they said nothing is wrong with him. I JUST noticed today that he has leftover poop when he is done pooping and he wipes it on the carpet, it is light colored green and stringy, almost like he ate a string, we gave him a de-worming thing about a year ago, could he have worms again? And i have a niece who crawls on the carpet all the time. I do not want my baby niece crawling all over his feces, so why does he have (quite a bit) of left over stringy light green poop when he is done? i literally just pulled it out of his butt-hole with a rag, it was long and stringy. and it seemed to hurt him because he kept hissing at me when i pulled it out and wiped him haha (very gross i know, for my niece) please, help??
I took him to the vet to see if he had an anal gland problem, they shoved somehting up his butt..very hard and akward to see that, they said nothing was wrong with him so should i go to a differant vet?

I don't know much about cats but I would see another vet for a second opinion. Better safe than sorry.

I agree. Get a second opinion.

He secretly wants to be a dog. Try to convince him that he is a cat and he needs to accept it.

Step 1: Get him to play with a toy, preferably something with cat nip.

Step 2: While playing, repeat telling him that he is a cat. This will hypnotize him into believing in his feline nature.

Step 3: This is where the cat nip comes in. Have him walk into the kitchen, where you will place a bowl of tuna fish and a bowl of doggy kibble in front of him. He should go for the tuna.

Repeat these steps until he eats the tuna. If successful, he should stop dragging his butt on the carpet.

Umm this is normal. When i first seen my first cat do this, (god bless his soul)I got freaked out and said, "are cats suppose to do this?" But its fine. They usually do this when there is extra feces they couldn't remove. Maybe you should change your cat's diet if this is a problem that occurs more than often and bugs you.

there are no extra feces except one time, and he has no anal gland problem, vet said he does that out of habit because he likes doing it

    Worms?

Or perhaps he's eating something strange, something resulting in digestive problems?

As the other people say, another vet is a good idea. IIN is not a collective of experts on cats, even though I'm sure a lot of people here spend all day in front of their computer surrounded by cats :P

Take your cat to see a different vet. I assume not a small vet place, but a big vet place. Training would not help.

Try training him not to drag his butt. Give him positive reinforcers (like a treat) every time he stops wiping his butt, and negative reinforcers (like a spray of water to his face) whenever he does start wiping. Hopefully, this wil teach him better. Also, take your cat to another vet, you never know.

    could be worms.

bring a stool sample (poop) to the vet.

  • Start feeding him cat nip daily. He could probably use a bit of fibre in his diet. And make sure he's on a good quality food that is easy to digest: wet food is preferable for cats (it's a myth that it's too rich for them) because of the water content in it. Cats don't naturally drink a lot of water because they tend to get what they need from their food. Constipation could be a sign that he needs more moisture in his food.

      • A few tablespoons is probably all that he would eat in a sitting before he goes loopy.

And a few tablespoons of wet food is all you need to supplement with.
