Changing my religion?

I guess you could say im kind of a christian but lately I've been interested in the religion of Wicca. I just find it facinating, not just because of spells and stuff but because of the religion itself. I would like to hear other peoples opinion about this. I only want comments from open-minded people, I dont want to hear all this "fairly tales" or "might as well believe in Santa" bullshit cause we people of religion know Santa doesn't exist so dont be narrow-minded. Same goes with the "burning in hell".

How do you know that Santa doesn't exist? Those cookies don't get eaten by themselves, you know.

I'm also Christian and I had a friend that was Wiccan. Because of her I looked up the religion and I agree that it's very interesting. If you believe that that's what you want to be, why not?

wicca is a awesome religion. it is also very open minded. it's perfect in today's green movement too, as wiccan's are very earth minded. spells are the same as prayers. wiccan's believe that you get your "just desserts" while you are alive, rather than after you die, so your "heaven" or "hell" will be what you make of it.

there's lots of books on it. if you visit a book shop, look in the "new age" section. that's where you will find plenty of reading:)

Most of the modern major 'religions' are controlled by aliens.

You have gone the right way in converting to Wicca.

Now the aliens won't be able to control you.

    Keep going.

    Resist the alien control.

  • I've try them all and each one of them have a mess in their own church. Including that big church in Houston!!!.... Yes!... All they preach is money here, money there. Is a big money making business. Deal with God yourself and if at the end we realized that he is not real, Great! At least you didn't give money to some freaking Jerk!!

I know this is an old question and no one will read this but, I feel the need to clarify a few things. Wicca and the practice of magic are to different things. While it is common of a practitioner of Wicca to also practice magic, It is not mandatory. And magic is most often performed by those with no particular religious affiliation.

Also a person can be Wiccan and still be Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, ect.. Because Wiccans believe in the Divine. The Divine is everything and God or Ala or Vishnu are gods but still part of the Divine. They are simply a particular groups representation of the Divine. A little reading and you will see what I mean.

And to continue with my overly long lesson, most Wiccans worship two gods. The God and The Goddess. This is to represent the duality in nature. A lot of covens focus most of their attention on the Goddess, being a representation of feminine power, and life. Mainly because many covens are composed of all women, or at least, women in the majority. But these groups still recognize the place of the God in the cycle of life.

And to end this article, Wiccans do have some rules which we all hold in common. The Wiccan Rede. Some argue about certain ones but their is one we all adhere to. One that is most important.

As it shall harm none, do as tho will

I totally agree with you! The bible and christianity is so full of lies and fabrications. If you trace its origins, catholicism came first, if u google paganism in the catholic church you will see some of their beginnings. ask yourself this? Obviously ancient egypt had great technology & power, & atlantis, why wasnt this in the bible at all? Why was the booj of enoch totallu deleted?? Ask yourself these questions and listen to your heart!

I say just drop all of your religious beliefs and just be spiritual if anything. I was raised Independent Baptist all of my 18 years growing up and became an atheist. Have never been happier, felt more free or looked back!

Your thoughts and beliefs are yours and yours alone. If you want to explore other religions, it is a way of deciding what your values are. The nature of religion is often wanting to define things. You may feel that you need to fit into a religion, but this is a personal decision, so try to pay attention to your intuition about what is right and wrong for you.

Magic is just a matter of ethical behaviour instead of witchcraft. What transcends far beyond good as a state of knowledge, facing higher reality, magic manifests, and changes a person, and is a profundity of some kind. Literal magic isn't the answer, I heard of magic as I talked about, and it's symbolic, other people have talked about this before: only transformation (many religions state transformation) without old negatives can be magic, you as a Wiccan are in the dark because you have to look normal and hide your magic. Any cause for burning can't possibly be magic, quite the opposite, it didn't change anything for the better.

I went through the same thing a couple years back. I was raised as a Christian, but converted to Wicca a few years ago. I feel much happier and believe that this is the right path for me. It's not evil at all, don't believe anyone who tells you that. I recommend getting a couple books about the basics of Wicca, though, before you make a change. It's the right path for some people, but not all.

    Totally normal.
I was raised in a totally Christian household, and my family, especially on my mom's side, are very religious people. However, I'm facing the same thing you are: a change of religion.

I believe everyone has a right to believe in what they choose, regardless of what other people think of it, and if you've done your research and know what you're getting into, then kudos to you, and I hope you like it very well. (:
