    I heard it's because they are a similar shape to fingers. Like you have a brick of cheese. Or a urinal cake.

    Leave it to the English language (I'm not sure if this is the case with other languages too.), to make up silly and nonsensical names for food. However!!! I think part of the reason you have names like "Chicken Fingers" or "Fish Fingers" is because they were meant for easier eating with fingers. It could also pertain to the food's long shape which would be pseudo canibolistic (I know that it is spelled wrong.) Creepy. "Buffalo wings", I think, pertains to chicken wings that are in Buffalo Sauce.
