So I keep hearing this noise come from my closet, and I hear it everyime I walk by or make a loud noise. I have never opened the closet for the entire 3 years that I have lived in my house, and the noises have always been part of my daily life. I would normally think nothing of it, but they are getting louder. The noises vary from scratching, pounding, and sometimes even whispering. I am not sure if it's just and animal / animals making the noises or something else. All of my friends have heard the noises and either refuse to come to my home or speak to me at all after hearing them. So, is it normal to hear noises out of your closet?

    Those rats in your closet have bred up to such numbers they're about to break loose and get you. Why on earth have you not opened the closet the whole time you've lived there?

    If you're renting tell your landlord, if you own the place you need to get a pest exterminator in ASAP.

    I heard scratching, soft pounding, and what sounded like whispers in my closet once. It turned out to be rats. You might want to get someone to check that out.

      Yeah, I would've said rats apart from the whispering unless there's some fabric or something similar making that sort of noise when they move around.

      I get rats in my roof occasionally and they make the most terrible noises sharpening their teeth on the wooden rafters. I do put poison up there because rats have been known to chew through electrical wiring and cause house fires.

        Their soft squeaks kind of sound like whispers. It was so creepy. lol I did the same with the poison. It eliminated them all pretty quickly.

          It was the crunching and skittering and fear of electrical damage that bothered me. They've come back occasionally in cold wet weather but I get on to it straight away now with poison, which I hate using, but what else can anyone do?

            The only other thing I can do is call an exterminator, but I don't have money for that these days. Most people don't it seems.

              No I wouldn't be able to afford that either. I've seen electronic devices which are supposed to repel mice & rats, presumably into the neighbour's roof, but apparently they can also repel cats and dogs, which would be difficult when I have a dog.

    Probably just closet zombies.
    They make a lot of noise but rarely kill and eat people.
    If you are worried about them, get an assault rifle at any store in town and keep it loaded by your bed.
