Is it normal for people to be jealous cause I slacked off for five years then got promoted because my dad's a board member? Just wondering if maybe they should be focusing on the backlog of work I left for them instead of gossiping and ranting by the coffee machine.

    Well, people generally don't appreciate nepotism as it allows those with no skills who don't work hard to advance in the workplace. Stop whining, and start working harder.
