Complaining about privilege

I see so many people complaining about things like pretty privilege, wealthy privilege, etc. Let's be realistic. The only reason why people are even complaining about this are because they don't have things like pretty privilege, wealthy privilege, etc. Nobody would be complaining if they had these privileges, and certainly wouldn't be so hell-bent on putting an and end to these "issues", including the people that take it to youtube or twitter and whine about equality and how people shouldn't be treated differently than others just because they're pretty, wealthy, and so on. They would have a completely different attitude. I don't see why anyone would be complaining. Who wouldn't want to experience the perks that come with being pretty or wealthy? From what I can tell, it's useful and there is no reason for it to stop. You're not wealthy? Go get a job that pays well. You're ugly? Make yourself look presentable, or if you can't be helped, get plastic surgery. But I can assure you that coming together as a community to act like you care and cry about how the world is so unfair won't get you anywhere.

This reminds me of a young lady I saw at the grocery store. SHe was probalby in her late 20's, early 30s. She was buying a case of water and a case of dr. pepper. She was on the phone the entire time. And then she used the phone to do the financial transaction. She was trying to use some app that was intended for personal shoppers, but she did it herself. It was confusing. THe cashier was doing her best but instead of listing to her explain what was happening, the women kept chatting on the phone. And then got annoyed when the transaction failed. She was so bothered that she had to pull her card out of her wallet and get off the phone.

And then karma bit her by way of the shopping cart. It apparently was broken and scratched her when she pulled the Dr. Pepper out. She again got annoyed with the cashier, who did her best to show empathy, but I don't think she cared all that much.

This isn't privilege as much as it is entitlement. Maybe stop splitting your focus for two minutes while you interact with a person in real life.

Look up "antifa mugshots" on google images. Its freakin hilarious. Its like every single ugly person in the town joined that thing.

But yes you're right. Ppl want to look at the world as you are either fortunate or unfortunate. They tend to leave out the importance of hard work and taking control of your own life.

It's an excuse to invalidate people's feelings and experiences by saying "you can't complain, you're privileged!" Everybody is more privileged than someone else in the world in some way, so that means no one is ever allowed to be unhappy, or depressed, or sad???

Why do people think pretty is a privilege? Attractive people get harrased all the time and than get told "Enjoy the harrasement, you are hot". Pretty gay men talk about getting harrased at gay bars. Women complain about being sexually harrased by males who think they are pretty. We make jokes about thirsty women nearly raping the celebrity stars but like anyone ever consider the problem there? If you think pretty is a privilege you basically condoning sexual harassment and assault. Attractive people don't get to choose what they look like. Society chooses what features it finds attractive. Also attractive kids are often targeted more by perverted adults. You ever watch as adults hit on that 13 year old who looks mature now cuase they developed. It's not okay.

Being attractive is a two edge sword. You can use it to get stuff and get away with things but you being a walking sex objects mean you have to constantly worry about being devalued and being raped.

This. A million times this. I am so sick and tired of people striving for victimhood as if it's some kind of accomplishment

It is ok to be wealthy but there needs to be some kind of equity. The richest people should not be more than 10x wealthier than the poorest. Every human being deserves to live a decent and dignified life. Extremely wealthy people have more wealth than they need or should want, considering how much very poor people suffer

    • The suffering of poor people has nothing to do with anyone else.

"Extremely wealthy people have more wealth than they need or should want."

This sentence doesn't make any sense. Actually, nothing in this comment makes any sense. A person doesn't HAVE to limit how much money the want just because there are others that are more unfortunate than them. Also, I'm pretty sure extremely wealthy people did something to get where they are at. Of course, not all, as there are many that are living off of their parents money, but a lot of them have.

        • No, it was not obvious. You can't always tell the tone of people on the internet, and on top of that, it was written in a way that made it seem like you were being serious.

I've never heared someone complain about privilege. Nobody in real life at least. Read: nobody that matters

    • I don't know, maybe it's just on the internet then. Doesn't matter. The point still stands.
