I need help my computer wont play any kind of cd, i tried everything. I went to my computer and the icon for the cd drive was gone! i took off the covering for my computer and everything was plugged up. Another thing is that when i put in a cd it acts like its going to play it. but nothing happens. It spins very quickly but will not play it. please help. this is a seirious question so dont be a smart ass and say that im putting in the cd upside down. be kinda nice about it okay?

    its a problem in the registry, when i updated my pc the drive was gone and i found out i had to edit the registry, its quite easy if you know what to do, need assistance? add me on msn its "[email protected]" without the quotes!

  • you have obviously lost your driver for the CD. Right click my computer
    and locate your drivers

    i had a similar problem
    no cd drive showing up in windows
    turned out some bastard had sneeked in and stole the drive
    bastards!!!!!!

    Hello, what is likely happening is that you have either added or removed some software from your computer that has caused this whole issue. if you are using windows vista, i would assume you are getting a message similar to "windows can not load the device driver for this hardware". in any case, some would advise you to do a system restore back before you made any changes. where i find this highly unreliable, i simply recommend clicking on this link http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;314060 and clicking on the fix it for me icon, and it will fix everything, restart your computer and you should be fine. if the link doesnt show, its on the microsoft website, just look for windows fix it.

    Access Device Manager and see if the CD Drive shows any problems. That is a start.

    i assume it might be called DRM. which stands for digital rights management. basically it prevents usage of cds on computers to stop illegal copying. Its being fased out from now on tho, basically just a by-product of early to mid 2000's RIAA-driven paranoia
