Dating a 25 year old male i'm 33 f and i notice he's a little clueless

He's mature in many ways extremely mature but sometimes we don't see eye to eye because he'll hold a really childish view over something.

We're dating we've been together two years and overall it's going well, we currently don't live together but we probably will in a year since we talked about it many times.

Anyway he wants to buy a dog on a whim that he just saw at the pound yesterday and I tell him it's a lot of money and responsibility and he argues that it's really not that much money and all you have to do is feed it.

He has an okay job but pay is on the lower side and long hours at work now that vary every single day so sometimes he works the entire day 9am to 9pm so how is that nice for the dog? Also he visits his parents in Italy every summer and stays two months, has no friends so I ask him who is going to look after the dog (I live 45 minutes away in an apartment that doesn't allow pets ) and he says he'd hire a pet sitter. I tell him that's expensive you'd need it for two months and the days you work all day but he doesn't understand.

He barely has enough money for the plane tickets to Italy this summer and he thinks he can afford all of that and it's weird too because it's his dog not even ours since I haven't even seen it and he's going to pick it up if it's still there.

Is it normal?

He's a dumbass. I'm planning on getting a dog soon myself but only after waiting years preparing financially and securing a job that pays really well. All it takes is one vet visit to destroy your bank account and only a scum bag won't save the animal because of a couple grand Bill. If you can't afford to do a few grand to save an animals life you simply put are not ready for a pet. Foods expensive medical visits are expensive grooming toys and treats and so on. We have many things we can do as humans our pets are more limited and it's our jobs as the human to give that animal the best life possible.

For the animals sake I hope you manage yo convince him out of it

    Some people are clueless.

Dog's take a fair amount of care. You need to walk them, clean up after them, etc. They can restrict your travel plans unless you place them in a "pet hotel" when you travel.
