No deal, some cancers can be treated already and a cure can't be more than 10-15 years away.

Nope. Got to see the bigger picture here. Do you know how many road accidents/ general accidents that would happen if that took place simultaneously?
It would far exceed the cancer death toll until cancer is solved with the current rate of research.
Cancer is bad. But it's not the end all be all of what can kill the average person.
Imagine if they found a cure for cancer. I already complain about the crowd at the shops on a sunday.
Question: how are the scientists capable of working under so much pain?
Are all scientists people without balls and ovaries?
That's the sort of thing where you practically have an obligation to say yes to it; you can deal with the consequences and regrets later, but, for now, you've got to cure cancer.
