Death question to make you think

So they say that when you die that your brain is still active for about 7 minutes. Which is a scary thought for me because if you get decapitated wouldn't you be able to feel everything and experience things around you for that long of a time.

Its like being in a coma where you can't move / speak. And then I was thinking what if you never really die, your body just stops functioning but your brain is still somewhat active and your still conscious. And you can feel and hear and see but can't move. And you get buried underground and just decompose slowly and you're just this dying body in pain. Or you get thrown into the incinerator and get cremated.
There's no way to know for sure because you can't ask a dead person, or someone who has died, you know?

if someone destroys the brain according to your hypothesis of conciousness then it will seize to exist. There for you wont feel anything. As well no oxygen in your brain damages it. so its like you stopped being conscious for eternity.

Dont worry i fear death too...

  • I don't like subjects on death. It just reminds me that one day I will die and I have no idea what comes after it.

This. As convincing as the many arguments of atheism may seem, death is one of those few subjects that you don't actually know about until you die and well... No one's ever died then come back to tell us all.

      • It's kind of scary if you just "don't exist" anymore. I sometimes feel like that would be more horrible than being in hell if it existed. Then again I haven't experienced either so what would I know. Lol.

          • There's one or two people thumbing down my comments just because I made the comments. I've noticed it for a while. Keep an eye out and you'll notice it happening.

I'm ItDuz, it's to be expected of some coward indirectly confronting me. ;)

Join the club. I'm guessing this is being done by the prepubescent, immature, underage children who frequent this site. Because they have zero experience with anything discussed on IIN (sex, girl/boy friends, dating, an erection, etc), it makes them realize their inadequacies. So they thumb down, because that is the only power they actually have in life, yet.
Kind of an 'I'm a miserable little impotent child, so how many others can I make miserable too', thing.

The "mind" and "brain" are two different things. One is a state of awareness that is connected to (or housed in) the brain.

The 21 grams theory hasn't been proven but without oxygen to ur brain since your circulation has ceased ur brain wouldn't be active just like when you unplug a light. I believe when you die that's it you cease to exist ur worm food

it said that hearing is the last sense to go, so if u have a dying loved one they will hear you. And the 21 grams theory, apparently you soul Leaving your body weighs 21 grams. If that's so, then after that point u won't be there anymore.

Who really knows, right? But I DO think that we have it in us to just know what to do, and it'll all come naturally. I don't think it's as morbid as you're thinking

Pretty sure that all electrical impulses in the brain cease after death.

To say your brain is 'is still active' is NOT the same as saying aware. Any rapid loss of blood pressure will cause immediate unconsciousness and therefore a loss of all awareness. Decapitation, though the brain is still functioning, immediately stops all awareness. You could not see, think or feel ANYTHING at all.
