Denim fire blanket

Last week we were at a friend's bonfire party. Some of the flying embers set fire to the dry grassland at the back of the house. At first we tried to stamp it out, but it was spreading too fast. We finally managed to put it out by taking our jeans off and using them to beat the flames down. Although they got quite dirty they were ok to wear afterwards. Has anyone else ever used their Levis as a fire blanket?

That's not always a good idea.

The heavy denim may work for small embers but for a bigger blaze the cotton will burn quite nicely.

I would recommend, next time, think bout your surroundings before having a bonfire.

I almost started a forest fire once. I put it out with good old fashion piss. True story. Lots of beer.
