Did anyone else almost nonchalantly die as a kid?

When I was a kid I had no idea how anatomy and bodies work or anything like that, like most all kids.

I remember when I was around 6 I swallowed a marble and didn't want to tell my mom cause I didn't want to get in trouble, so instead I planned to cut it out. I knew when you ate things it went to your stomach, so I assumed I could just cut my stomach open and get it out then use bandaids to put myself back together.

I remember taking a knife from the kitchen and going to the bathroom to cut my stomach open but changed my mind when I heard my dog barking, so that's the only reason my dumbass is alive.

Did anybody else have any weird ass experiences like that as I kid?

A friend of mine zipped up his jeans as a kid and forgot to put his dick back in before doing it. I can still hear the screaming. He bled a lot but i don't think was ever in mortal danger.

As for me, I had about 7 or 8 near death accidents before I was 10.

Come to think of it I probably should have been still born. I've seen pictures on my mom jumping up and down on a trampoline while holding a bottle of jack in one hand a smoke in the other when she was preggo with me.

That was back in the 70's tho....good times

I laid down and swallowed a Werther's original candy once, and almost choked. The second time, I started choking on a hot dog. Both times my mom caught me and freaked out. The third time I nearly died was when I flipped over a church pew and hit my head on the wooden floor. My mom wasn't paying attention that time because she was holding my baby brother.

I almost got kidnapped by a predator, but I ran away because I was really creeped out.

Yeah. I did two stupid things as a child that could've either left me seriously injured or dead. 1. I let go of a swing when I was in pre-K or kindergarten. I ended up crashing face first into the woodchips that lined the playground and only ended up with one broken elbow. 2. I went to sleep with vitamins in my mouth and got them stuck in my throat. It took me forever to realise what was wrong with me. Somehow, I managed to get them out. Lesson learned.

Kids are stupid by definition. It's amazing so many make it to adulthood.

Probably the dumbest thing I did as a kid was make nitroglycerin when I was 13. I was smart enough to make only a tiny quantity, but it was still a very stupid thing to attempt.

You had access to fuming nitric acid? Or did you use concentrated sulphuric acid with 68% nitric acid?

Difficult to remember the details, since it was a very long time ago. From what I know now, I'm sure it wasn't fuming HNO3.

Chems were stolen from a Seventh Day Adventist school where they once clearly had a teacher who was interested in chemistry, and then they just got left in the back of some cupboard.

I confess that I did exaggerate a bit above. More correct to say that I _attempted_ to make nitroglycerine using the recipe in some old book of my father's. It didn't actually explode, but I do remember getting very nervous when the mixture got extremely hot and started giving off some nasty fumes.

Perhaps if I'd had access to more accurate measurement apparatus and slightly better chems, I'd be typing this with stumps.

I stepped off a low-tide hidden sand shelf as a non-swimming kid. Not quite sure how I made it back onto the solid but I thought it was curtains at the time.
