Did i drink elisa lam water?
I am deeply worried that trolls and this "creepypasta" craze has ruined trust but I swear this is a true story that happened to me. Maybe the subtlety of it will let some of you believe me.
For those not familiar there is a hotel in downtown Los Angeles formerly called Hotel Cecil. It is just outside skidrow where all the junkies are and close to a small Dominican neighborhood. It is a creepy industrial place.
This hotel is infamous for two famous serial killers having stayed there. Many suicides. Prositution. And the victim of the black dahlia unsolved murder. It is the subject of the Netflix series american horror story as well.
But what I'm talking about is something different. In late 2012 or early 2013 a Canadian exchange student from Korea I believe went missing who had booked a room there. During the investigation surveillance footage was released of her entering and exiting the elevator and making bizarre seeming gestures. This has gone viral and was reuploaded hundreds if not thousands of times. She was later found dead on the roof inside one of the water tanks and the reason being that guests complained of discolored and fowl tasting water.
The hotel was closed immediately upon discovering the body, several months passes and it was reopened as a "hostel" as part of the "Stay" franchise. (It is called 'Stay on Main' as it is on Main St.)
For those who are unfamiliar hostels typically have 8-12 beds, sometimes slightly more or less, and this is per room. So one room will have perhaps 6 bunk beds where everyone stays.
Stay on Main kept the old walls from Hotel Cecil and rooms contain a single bunkbed. So you and one stranger share a room together.
The rooms are oddly decorated, many contain the classic 70's "hand chair" but miniature, and also a large frame containing many fake flowers smooshed behind a thick sheet of plexiglass.
The bathrooms I believe, and I could be wrong were Asian style where the room is the shower and there is a drain in the floor which is disconcerting if you are American. I've never seen this in America.
And at the end of the hallway there is a small bathroom with a shower and a tub.
OK so in March of 2013 I was traveling alone, and was meant to stay with my cousin but she wasn't answering her Facebook. I slept outside one night, one in a motel, one at a hostel in Santa Monica and then one at Stay on Main.
At the time I didn't know anything about the building or its history.
Now here is the question. Obviously her body was removed as it was Stay on Main. But I distinctly remember drinking the tap water and it tasting completely undrinkable. It looked clear but was like something I've never tasted. I figured it was OK to brush my teeth with. And the next morning I even took a bath in it.
I remember also avoiding the elevator. I think it was taking too long so I took the stairs and then just kept taking the stairs.
I tooke pictures of the room and felt uncomfortable. I think I maybe did mention the water to them and maybe they were working on something different with the pipes.
But when I heard years later about Elisa and the hotel's history it made me interested. I double checked the dates and am positive she was not in the tank while I stayed there, but I have no idea what happened with that water.
