Do i have aspergers?

I understand subtle emotional cues most of the time, but sometimes I'll miss something and ruin the flow of a conversation. I have learned to shut up and listen. Also I've noticed at parties, when I try to join a circle of people talking, someone will move in front of me to block me.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Yeah, this isn't the place to get a diagnosis.

Luckily you have chosen a website with many professional intelligent users who can probably diagnose you right on the site! Good luck1

I am diagnosed with High functioning autism (aka aspergers). It is a complex disability and never the same for two people. You'd need to do a lot of research to look for a pattern of similarity and of course ideally get a professional opinion. However if it helps I will say all asperger people I've met share the traits of not fitting in socially (or just being very socially anxious), having strange impulses to organize or arrange or rank items or collections since childhood (I sort my DVD collection when stressed for one example), and almost always have a strange voice tone or speech pattern (like overly monotone or formal for example). If you have aspergers you will feel like you live on a different planet than the rest of society and you won't understand pretty much anyone. Hope that helps.

Not enough information to tell but I don't think anyone in here can diagnose you. You should get yourself tested if you really want to know.

You might be on the spectrum indeed.

You have not supplied enough information to really say. You might have it, or might just be socially awkward. If you want to know if you have it you should talk to a psychiatrist.

I think human behaviours all lie on some kind of continuum. I'm not sure at what point enough of them qualify you for a syndrome. It's good to be aware of how you interact with the world but I'm not sure it helps anyone to label the behaviour.

As someone on the spectrum I can assure you that aspergers is a real disability and not just a label for some types of behavior on a continuum. It is a silently painful disorder and it's not at all cute or easy or eccentric like the media and public makes it out to be. If you have aspergers you are DIFFERENT on a fundamental level, not an eccentric level. Life is hard. Period. It could be worse, but people always belittle autism and dismiss it which hurts to feel so misunderstood.
