Do we need a spell check service on iin?

Even though I do realize that if someone really wants to sound like a retard- no spellcheck can stop it.

Smartphones and macs mostly do have this by default, but should there be a special IIN, website-based service?

Something like -"Clippy doesn't think that's even English. Would you like to slam your head against the wall and try again?"

Yes, it's very annoying. 51
No, i lik redin' dis. 26
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

No; I wish people would chill about the grammer and spelling on this site. I'm sure the people who complain about it make typos and aren't perfect at grammer either.

    • I don't think i'm even being a grammar nazi right now. I, certainly, don't think that my English is perfect. I just enjoy actually reading posts and replies, instead of deciphering some cryptic code. Besides in some cases it's even hard to understand the original post.

Like I get it when people write post in which they don't even try to spell. I, too, hate it when people use so much slang to the point that you can't even read it. But sometimes, people just make mistakes. And I'm not saying that you are, but a lot of people on this site are very egotistical about there grammer and spelling, so they think they have to put down others whenever they make a typo or mispell something. That's what I was saying. I wasn't meaning to target you. Sorry, if it came it that way.

What I don't like about spell-checkers (yes it's hyphenated), is that I'm Canadian, and sometimes I prefer the 'proper' Canadian spelling (or is it spell-chequer [just kidding]). At other times, I prefer the American spelling and rarely the British spelling.
There are plenty of dictionaries, thesauruses and manuals of style available. USE THEM!
Any colour you like (lazy Americans).

    • I'm Canadian too, man. Alberta here, lol.

I rarely use the British spelling, mainly because sometimes I mix them both in one paragraph when I'm tired.

And I don't mind the American checkers as long as they don't change my toque to a beanie (or whatever they call them) :P

Yeah mine does it automatically so I can appear more intelligent than I am.

I don't think it's necessary - this isn't school, this isn't a job application, it's an internet-bound social forum. Everything doesn't need to be perfect and neat and tidy when people are opening up and expressing their deep dark secrets and dirty habits.

It might be painful trying to read somebody's garbled, error-ridden rant but the kind of person who makes one thousand spelling mistakes in a paragraph isn't the kind of person who is going to pause and carefully correct each word with a red squiggly line underneath it. It's the responsibility of the writer to get it right, not the website, and if they shun that responsibility, you just have to deal with it.

Well as long as there is no difficulty understanding someone, I see no problem.

We must take into consideration there is genuine reasoning behind alot of people unable to comprehend the English language like; age, non native speakers, etc.

The only thing that really pisses me off, is when people spell "masturbate", as "masterbate". And there is a spell check! Because masturbate spelt incorrectly there is underlined in red!

I have no clue why you dislike those users, I can understand Thanksforthefreecar though. Although you have been harassing him, and not otherwise.

Also, based on your comments it shows that you're rude, disrespectful and homophobic.

If anyone should be banned, it's you.
