Who else is going to stop those plankton and assorted microorganisms from invading the land and bringing hell along with them.
Yes, because no matter what, they will effect the food chain somewhere down the line, which could then effect many other aquatic sea-life.
Do you like sea turtles? Do you like dolphins and porpoises? There are hundreds of creatures in the sea which depend on jellyfish to survive. Kill them all off and you will kill off hundreds of species.
Earth would be much better off if humans were the species exterminated, instead!
