Do you agree with this kind of parenting?

So today I was at shop and there was some old lady yelling at her grandson I guess. I'm pretty sure he couldn't be older than 14 and she was so loud I couldn't not hear it. She said he has to study everyday and if he won't he will die under the brduige because he will never find a job. She also yelled about how he never studies and she won't feed him forever and that if he won't get to gymnasium she will thorw him out. Then security dude came and told her to calm down and the boy started deffending that he has only As and Bs and that it's his life. It really scared me how angry was the lady and I don't really think we should put so much pressure to young kids.

I think she was right 4
She had the poing but overacted 38
She was wrong 52

If he has A's and B's she should be proud that he doesn't have D's and C's.

We don't know these people. We don't know their life. It's nearly impossible to make a fair comment here.

Public shaming actually an ineffective and very harmful thing parenting method. Poor kid is probably chronically abused. Maybe Granny is just off her meds. Or maybe he really is a blockhead and Granny is at her wits' end because she is really concerned that her delenquent grandson might actually wind up under a bridge.

Why did she want him to go to the gym if she wants him to study?

    • I wasn't sure how is it called in english but gymnasium is like high school but not oriented in just one subject. But it's different in every country anyways.

    • I actually know that boy and he's smart he just doesn't like school. We were friends when we were younger and we're still in contact. He doesn't even have bad grades, his granparnts just yell at him for not having straight As like his father did. I've never met his family in person though.

Generation gap. Grandmas will never understand the way we live our lives.

I don't believe screaming angry words at anybody is going to encourage them to take positive steps in their lives.... Maybe this lady needs some anger management? I hate seeing 'bad parenting' (or grandparenting!) Sometimes I see parents really screaming at younger kids and sometimes smacking them. I can't help but think these are the kinds of parents who have failed to set the boundaries and/or aren't consistent with them and then wonder why their kids misbehave. They're just kids, they don't have the cognitive ability of adults!
