“ In a Calvin Klein ad released in May, the 17-year-old singer revealed that her baggy clothes and unique style are a deliberate choice to avoid being sexualized. "I never want the world to know everything about me," Billie said. "Nobody can have an opinion because they haven't seen what's underneath." “

“ A succubus is a demon or supernatural entity in folklore, in female form, that appears in dreams to seduce men, usually through sexual activity. In modern representations, a succubus is often depicted as a beautiful seductress or enchantress, rather than as demonic or frightening. “

If she’s dressing/acting that way to avoid sexualization she isn’t like a succubus in anyway
Wasn’t trying to start anything, just thought you’d like to know why she does the things she does

Women can wear burlap sacks and men will still sexualize them.

But my comment was intended more about the weird clothes & soulless facial expressions.

Leather from cattle, and hides from other harvested animals, can be a byproduct from hunting/farming animals for food, and then I do not mind using them for clothing or other.

I raise animals for harvest, and I butcher my own as well as butchering for others from time to time. I make sure that all parts are properly harvested to be put to use. This includes hides. even let some weird goth chick come pick out bones, I don’t know what she does with em. Art maybe.
Large scale operations don’t always bother to do this, because it is very meticulous and time consuming.

I’m a dirt-worshipping tree-hugging barefoot hippie when it comes to wildlife conservation and proper animal care and respect. I absolutely love critters, wild and mine.
Killing animals solely for fashion, like minks, chinchillas, foxes, exotic animals, endangered or critically important wildlife, is absolutely abhorrent. And should be illegal.
Utilizing animal material that would have otherwise been wasteproduct is good practice.

It would be unprofitable to waste. Any industrial sized farming has a designated place for said waste to be "recycled" mostly pet food. Though I am thoroughly intrested in blood bricks and bone ceramics.

I see nothing wrong with wanting to wear animal skins and hides.

In fact I recomend brain tanning your kills. You already killed the damn thing you might as well take free tanning supply too from its noggin.

Industrial farming is actually very, very, wasteful. It is often more expensive to pay for labor, specialty equipment, and extra licensing, than profit made on “less demanded” parts of a harvested animal.

Also many food regulations demand that commercial meat be packed in plastic, and that “unsatisfactory” meat be thrown out. Because of cripplingly obsessive standards to avoid even the slightest lawsuit, almost 26% of meat goes to waste before it is even sold to consumers. Buying locally or harvesting your own animals avoids plastic waste and animal waste.

I’m fine with wearing animal hides that are byproducts of sustainable harvesting.
Killing animals out of frivolity just to wear something rare and fancy, like a polar bear coat or a Bald Eagle feathered cap, is abusive greed.

Goes hand in hand fashion wise. Winter clothing has to be warm. Sure you could wear a mink jacket in summer but christ that would be warm.

I perfer animal skin over polyester and cotton. Honestly wool is a good in between.

I think my coat is wool if I remember correctly same with my gloves. My pants are canvas and my hat is rabbit.
Canvas you might be thinking what? Dude put on some fur lined boots and some long johns my happy ass is sweating at -30

Animals do maje good products there is no denying that

In an industrial sense, as fashion. Yes I believe it should stop. For those who live off the grid and use all parts of the animal, it is a ceremonial and respect thing to use all of the animal.

It depends, personally I believe that if the animal was already dead (like you found it dead or you hunted it for food) then it’s okay because it’s life wasn’t taken just for the sake of making fancy clothing. I do think that killing an animal specifically the make clothing is wrong, especially if the animals are being bred for the purpose of looking pretty (Look into fox fur farms, it’s pretty sad)

Anything to lower the costs and to not drive the animal itself extinct. As horror movie-esk as these factories are I dont hold a particularly high moral standard for their upkeep.

If there is even a $0.10 difference between cruelty free and cruelty full I'm taking the cruelty stuff. Animals are resources, granted we should try to make it better.

Its not about capitalism for me. I'm a human supremacist, I care about cheap food for people, more than the physical suffering of animals.

Let me contextualize this. What goes too far for me is koreans skinning dogs alive for a "better" seasoned meat. Now that's just psychotic. But if you got to shove 10 chickens into a box to make a whole cooked chicken be worth 5$ at a store? So be it. Dont like the treatment raise your own damn chickens. Or by free ranged.

I am at least being honest of my buying practices. I for one refuse to buy textiles made by children, and I try my best to find ones that arent made in 50 cent factories.

I dont care for animals being treated as slaves (they are animals after all). I DO care about people being treated like slaves.

I say why not? It's just another part of an animal. You are using the entire animal in said process, no waste. If you have to kill an animal the least you can do is use the entire thing.

That being said I want a bear Cape.

Skinning them alive should be illegal, yes. Wearing furs n' such should not. I don't think the animal cares whether it's dying to feed you or clothe you. It's still dying. It's still on a farm. Humane treatment is key, but I'm not going to write a treatise against fashion while eating a hamburger.

No. Proper use of animal skins, pelts, and other body parts is a normal part of life.

However, as a person who raised rabbits for meat in my childhood (we also sold them to people looking for pets) I insist on cages or pens with adequate room for them to live a decent life and humane treatment and butchering.

I have no problems with mink and other furs; but am horrified by the mink farms that pack hundreds if not thousands of mink into very small cages with a constant smell of mink manure. That's not humane to me.

Now admittedly, if the mink (and other) "farms" created humane conditions that meet my ideas of humane treatment that it would probably triple the cost of mink, ermine, and other furs. That's OK in my book - mink, ermine, etc are a luxury item - and the wealthy do not really care what something cost as they have the money to buy it. I'm not going to cry if they have to spend another $3000-$5000 for a mink, ermine, or other coat.

I'd also require that the meat be used as food from such butchered animals. I assure you that many homeless and other shelters would love to get good quality fresh meat if they cannot find other markets for it.

No, unless it is painful for the animal. No, I don't think all animal fashion should be illegal. But slaughterhouses? Yes. You better not eat meat, OP.

im not op but im sincerely curious about how people can take a normal carnivore like me or 90% of the world and point their fingers for bein responsible for how the greedy shitbags run commoditized penny pinchin operations

i just drank a glassa water from my well am i also responsible for the incessant drought & wildfires in cali?

at what point does it cease to be a useful and informative discussion and just become someone tryin to feel morally superior?
