So just the loved ones you knew?
    Just immediate family?
    Extended family & friends?
    Distant ancestors you never knew?
    Dead family pets?
    Enemies?

Are they around while I'm taking a dump?
    While I'm whacking off?
While I'm stuck in traffic and all pissed off?
    While I'm sleeping?

I hope not. Who wants a bunch of judgemental vouyeristic ghosts hanging around?

The dead are dead that's why we call them dead.

  • I have someone really close to my heart in a critical condition. It'd be nice to believe that they'll be with when/if they're gone. I don't mean ancestors but someone you're close to.

Only the ones you were really close to.
I believe they watch and help you.
So no ancestors because there is no way you were close to them.

Sometimes some will come back to watch over us and will help us if we will listen to what they have to say .

Well... I am an atheist and as such all supernatural phenomenon are to be discounted until scientifically proofen to exist or at least proofen, through logic, to be plausible.

So no, I don't believe in that.

But to add on to that. I only talk to them in my bedroom. I see them through my window. Nowhere else in my house.

Yes. I totally. Think this is true. I feel really awkward reading these people's opinions because, I actually talk to these people I swear are here with me. Please don't listen to them. I know they are loved ones watching me.

It's okay to believe this. I didn't believe it as a teenager. But I do now. 100% I believe it now. I'm not a Christian. Now I'm more new age now.

I knew July 18th 2012 I'd have to have surgery, but I didn't know when. I worked up a LOT of fear due to surgery. But Oct 10th, I knew it would be Oct 18th 2012. The week before surgery, I called upon someone very special to me and asked her to be there with me through the entire pre-op, with me during surgery, in the recovery room and during my entire recovery period at home!

Who was this person? I lost my best friend when she was only 17 years old. Asthma attack. I think may be someone else wanted her to go to heaven, I believed that when I was a young Christian as a teen. Now I was 18 at the time and I was done with high school. She had just entered in her senior year and just took those senior pics. We had a very strained relationship/friendship since she moved away for 1 year when she was in 10th grade. She came back a different person when her parents moved back 1 year later. When I got the call that my best friend was in ICU at the age of 17, I was in a dark place. She died. She was brain dead. She was my best friend. Michelle Kinley, I love you and miss you.

1 week before surgery (on the 10th) I started to ask Michelle at night "come be with me during my surgery please. I need you there, I need you. Please let me know everything will be okay". I did this daily at night just before I'd nod off. I'd talk right to her, not to god or an angel. I also asked for someone else to be there. You can use anything that makes you feel comfortable! I used my cat Muffin. I wanted my cat Muffin to be near me as well during my surgery and before my surgery since I was really really scared.

Well, the day of the surgery came and we got there at 7:30am and I was called by my surgeon at 6:30am. He told me to come in that day (18th) and it would be 11am. I was fine until the nurse put in that darn catheter in the back of my hand. I was not scared at all being rolled into the pre-op room. I was not scared being rolled into the operation room either. I had prepared spiritually. I am very scared of heart monitors on my chest since they have a sexual charge around them for me. I told my anesthesiologist that I was afraid of them and she asked why. I didn't know why. I told her, her life is in my hands. She knew that fear. She told me where the heart monitors would be on my body. She told me that I'd feel pain, burning when the stuff is pumped into my blood in y arm through the IV. (Yes, my arm did burn like hell for 5 seconds before I was out). But no fear at all. I was FINE. I knew Michelle and Muffin were with me. I felt both of their presence with me in the recovery room. It was wonderful. It felt as if Muffin, my black tuxedo cat was right on top of my chest purring. It was as if Michelle was holding my hands and giving my heart comfort. Like she was saying that I'd be okay. I felt that before and after surgery.

now, I know this question was not about surgery. But it was about dead loved ones coming to you. There is nothing wrong with believing this or wanting to believe it. Many people have faith to help them with fears. Some people believe in a god, some believe in Jesus to save them. And it's okay to believe that as well. I believe if you ask the spirits to come to you, they will. They may not come when you want. I also believe they come in dreams. I have had dreams of my step dad in dreams after he passed and it has been 9 years since he's been gone. I still have dreams of him. I had a dream of Michelle 4 weeks ago as well. You can ask a friend, or a past lover to visit you.

May be they are always around in another form that we can't see? I don't know. I'm not dead yet. I will find out when I'm dead. That is the mystery of death. We don't know until we go and when we die, we die alone. No one dies with us, unless it is a big crash or something.

Don't be ashamed if that is the real you and you believe spirits hang around after a person is gone. A person can spot a fake. If it makes you feel good to believe this, then believe it since it is your truth!

There was a time when we didn't care if other people were always logical. When we'd let them have little beliefs to make them feel better and get through life without so much sadness.

We should have told this person that they family would stay with them, and they might have believed it and lived the rest of their life feeling happier, to no detriment of others. But no, the truth is obviously much more important...

A resounding NO. They are too dead to care.
