The myth didn't originate with Mary anyway. There had been several "virgin birth" myths in earlier religions, that Christianity merely recycled.

The question is moot. The Immaculate Conception isn't the virgin birth of Jesus. It isn't even about Mary being a virgin. It's about Mary being conceived without Orginial Sin.
Understand what you're talking about before you mock.If you don't know what Original Sin is, google it. Or better still (if you're less gullible than to believe all the tripe you read on the internet) ask a Catholic.

Contrary to AspiringRuth, I don't think anyone is mocking anyone. There is much to be gained by exploring the intricacies and variation of beliefs. If you don't want to defend your belief in Original Sin, then so be it. But many people equate Original Sin to a concept invented by a kneiving salesman trying to create a need for his product. Since religions are the product of the God industry, a perceived need is essential to marketing.
Now please don't whine and cry about mocking. I am respectfully hoping that you will give all of us favorable arguments to support your belief. I am only opening our discussion with the position of a devil's advocate.

I understand. 😊 I know that the beleif of a higher power sounds ridiculous to most people. I just have Always had a very strong belief in God ever since I was a baby. I love God with all my heart and it hurts me when I hear someone disrespecting him. ( imagine someone saying that something bad about your family) I understand to you it might sound crazy lol but to me it is very real.
