I know my grandpa would via mail a few times and after they fucken smother you with mail.
I personally do not because I have doubt if the donation actually reaches it's destination. I hate those commercials with sad music for humans and animals trying to make you feel bad and play off emotions.
I will try to help certain homeless with change but there's a strip mall near me and I see the same fuck there all the time pan handling and I have no sympathy for him because I've given him money before and he keeps on making his roubnds asking for money. Fuck that motherfucker.
I have given to charity but I found out many of those people running charities make a fuck load of money from the donations and I feel that's wrong.
I think it was the red cross higher ups that make over $300k/year.
So, FUCK THAT.
They don't get any more money from me but I still donate old crap to them which they sell and make a profit from.
I've needed blood before to survive so I really should give back but I haven't yet.
I don't trust Doctors to use clean needles, etc.
I do buy lottery tickets from time to time so that's charity. Out here some of the proceeds go towards schools, etc. so to me that's charity enough.
i only put change in the boxes at grocery stores n stuff cause i have a ton of family members who use there credit cards to donate to like africa and they get millions of phone calls asking for more money and to start sponsoring more and more children
I donate to organizations that i can trust and thats all i can say... Im not trying to help but i know where money deserves to go and thats it, be it a local restaurant that makes REALLY good food or a cause that donates their money for causes that mean something and not just an organization trying to take money.
Yes. Once a month, there's a person outside of PathMark gathering donations in a locked up box for poor families. I put 5 dollars every month. It's not much, but that's all I can do.
I used to donate quite a lot (in terms of percentage) back when my parents paid for everything and money was not a concern at all in my life. Now that I have to pay for things myself, I really can't find as much as a cent I could honestly say I can spare. Every dollar I save makes me a dollar closer to stop being a legal slave and start being a man of my own. Unfortunately that's the system we have: it's every man for himself. But I guess I'd like to donate something once I have some kind of stable income and a planned budget.
Yes I donate to various charities.
The latest thing was I started donating to the red cross because the girl at my door asking for a signature was so damn cute. Of course I never saw her again, but hey, it's still a good cause.
I don't donate money that often because I'm kind of broke, but I have donated time to different charities.
I buy a $100 ticket each year in a lottery where first prize is a house. Proceeds go to help MS society. I haven't won so I consider it a donation.
I feed and castrate stray cats.
Every week or so I give food/money to the homeless in Toronto. The government is obviously too busy using my tax money to feed continuously multiplying people thousands of miles away while it has its own starving and desperate people to take care of. /rant
Occasionally: I have donated blood once and have recently donated $5 to the Zeitgeist movement. I also attempted to donate to an appeal which appeared on Bondi Rescue (Dancer hit the sea bed and damaged his spinal cord) which caused him to be paralyzed from the neck down but they didn't have Paypal and never responded to my email.
I haven't been able to afford to donate money to charity in over a year. I used to donate to two local charities where I was personally acquainted to the people who ran them and knew my money wouldn't be misappropriated. Also when I can afford it I like to buy dog or cat food and donate it to an animal shelter. The thing I love about donating food is there's no way it can really be misused. As long as a hungry homeless animal has something to eat I'm fine with it.
Thats awesome, I dont know why the guy above disagreed with you. Animals are innocent (atleast cats and dogs are) unlike most humans who would misuse your money for drugs and all. Dont let others hurt you about it, and do what you feel is right.
Thanks, I appreciate your comment. I like what you said about humans misusing money. I think it's good to feed the homeless but not to give them money. I hate seeing a person begging for money on the street while they smoke a cigarette and drink something out of a brown paper bag. Charity doesn't exist to enable drug and alcohol abuse.
I also tend to believe that a lot of animal haters are jealous of animals which to me is like being jealous of little children. Dogs and cats are so sweet, innocent and loving, like little children; their mere presence makes the world a better place.
Animals are neither innocent nor guilty. They are exempt from such systems.
Animals do contribute to society btw. Dogs help the blind and they help the police and FBI, especially with drug searches. Cats get rid of disease ridden mice and pests that lurk around people's properties. Animals have many good uses and you're just being heartless.
Mind your own business prickhead. No one gives a damn of what you think!
Umm........
Cows help till the field, give milk and fertilize crops with their poop.
Dogs can be used for therapy, guarding homes and for detecting things.
Pigs can be used for sniffing truffles.
Horses are good transportation, and have helped travels for centuries.
Goats can help trim grass.
All the above can also make good pets.
