What's so British about this particular Columbia?

    Sounds suspicious to me...

British Columbia was once part of what was called the Oregon Country. It was jointly administered by the United States and Great Britain. The 1846 Oregon Treaty settled the international boundary peacefully.

  • I have heard of it and I know that it's in Canada, on the Pacific Coast, the people that live there love to drink tea, are generally reminiscent of England, and they speak English far more often than they speak French.

      Unless you're in Vancouver.
They would be far more likely to speak Chinese.

I lived on the border with BC. if anyone doesn't know -it's a province in Canada. I like living in Alberta better, but then I'm biased, AB is home :)

BC is beautiful though, forests, the Rockies. If you're into outdoor sports -it's heaven.

I don't like van-kong too much, though. lol.

It's the Canadian west coast. Vancouver is (I think) it's biggest city and there's a fuck ton of asians there, it's near Seattle, and has pretty temperate weather for Canada. Don't know much about the rest of BC besides Vancouver.

An interesting fact- I think BC might have been founded by "Gassy Jack" Deighton in the year 1866.

    Yeah, it's in Canada.
And all I know about Canada is that the pills are cheap, it's cold as hell, some pretty good singers (and the Bieber) come from there and the beer drinking age is 18. I learned about the last one from that '70s show. Hahaha.

Funny about That 70's Show....back then, drinking at 18 was legal here too! I always hated when they did episodes where it was like a huge deal to buy a keg tap or to get beer, nobody cared back then like they do now, and at least a couple of the characters were 18 anyway! Shit, nobody got carded back then!! I used to go buy cigarettes for my parents when they didn't feel like going into the store, that was in the 80's. That law changed in the 90's but even then nobody cared much, it wasn't until much later that they really stiffened the laws.

I went there once on a vacation. It was very nice. The little old lady running the inn I stayed at was always offering me muffins and would send extra blankets to my room. It was a bit cold for my taste.

    • She could have kept you warm instead of the extra blankets. Just saying....
