I find both answering machines and voicemail useful. It tells about the subject of the call.
I still have a landline (with an answering machine), along with a cellphone (with voicemail). I almost never answer them unless I recognize the phone number or business due to the prevalence of junk phone calls (and now junk text messages as well).
I only return calls where there is a message about something that applies to me.
I also leave voice messages about who I am and why I called with people. They almost always call back.
I like voicemail and I like when people leave a message so I know what they were calling about and if I really want/need to call them back. I also like to leave a message and say what I want to say. It’s harder to get it right when I have to talk to the person.
My voicemail app on my phone doesnt work so I perfer if people text me. I have different ways to contact my boss so if they cant immediately get back to me, they will notice that I tried to call. And send me a message if its urgent enough, or I have the time to take another phone call.
Not because I cant leave a message but because the problem is often too complex to be explained over a voicemail.
Yeah, I do sweat it sometimes but it's normal to. When I'm calling my patients I sometimes stumble over my words but it happens to everyone. Phone anxiety is real but you can overcome it.
I don't think i've recieved a voice mail since like 2008.
I've never even seen an answering machine in real life.
it annoys me when people i know call and leave messages when im not available
i can already see that you called for fucks sake and now i gotta call voicemail and listen to you tell me you called
depends. If it's work, I love it. If it's personal, I usually just call back later or text.
