    Cats. You have to own their affection. Dogs will readily slobber it all over you.

    And people who believe cats are cold and distant obviously *haven't* earned their affection.

    Both. Cats are some of the most beautiful animals I've ever seen, but dogs are just wonderful. A relationship with a dog is the truest, most unconditional kind of love that exists (certainly truer than love between two humans). But, to be honest, all animals have something special about them. What could be possibly cuter than a sugar glider, for instance?

    I prefer dogs but I like cats too.

    Domesticated cats don't retain a pack-mentality, meaning they are all for one; themselves. They'll go off by themselves and in all likelihood won't miss you much. Dogs still have pack instinct, so if you ensure you're the dominant one, they genuinely want your affection and approval. They are excited to see you. They're higher maintenance because of this, though, and aren't as independent.

    I bet a lot of these votes are swayed by what animal the voter grew up with.

    I do really like both but I prefer cats. They have all kinds of different personalities. If you're going to get a cat the best thing is to make sure the cat has a really cool personality, and raise it with lots and lots of affection so it will be a loving cat. And never ever hurt them so they won't be skittish. I have 2 awesome cats and they're great company.

    I personally like cats better but I have 2 dogs right now :(
    One is a pitbul and the other is a German Shepard; they're so hard to handle!

    cats are a lot more fun andneed less care than dogs,also they're smaller if you don't have the space for pets and make a hell of a lot less noise than dogs do.Dogs are alright if you have the time and patience to take care of them,although I don't hate them I think dods are a pain in the ass to own.

    I don't like the SMELL of dogs. Cats smell better (sans litter box). I'm talking about the smell of their hairs and mouth and whatnot

    I LOOOOVEEE dogs, and I'm sure I'd love cats just as much . . . if I weren't allergic to them. ;__; They are cute though. So I chose "both".

    i love my dog he loves me and would die for me".
    And dogs have done time and time again through history,when you hear about a cat attacking a mugger with a gun?lol

      a meal ticket really? why do you think a dog love you? it will love anyone with food. and it will eat anything-shit, vomit, trash, poison etc.
      when was the last time you saw a child attack someone? no shit it's too small to do that just like a cat is. and yes i have seen cats save people's lives in other ways. a dog would love to kill anyone.

        Wow, come on, guys. >____> Keltic, do you even have a cat? Shrunk, do you even have a dog? Even so, did you train it properly? Because you're most a likely horrible owner if your dog has done such things before. Dogs are nationally acclaimed to be man's best friend for a reason, but that's not to say cats can be just as amazing.

        A dog will not eat such things if you train it right. A dog will NOT attack ANYONE if you train it right AND TREAT IT PROPERLY. There's not a single animal in the world, as far as I know, that will attack a human without reason.

        And a cat HAS attacked me before, and I've witnessed one attack my dad, most likely because it was abandoned and treated wrongly by humans and thought it was being threatened. Don't blame the animals for those type of things. It just shows both of your ignorance . . .
