I live in New York City; I'd say it's definitely worth visiting, but living here is a different story. I'm just sick of it, I guess. The public transportation (MTA) is a huge pain in the ass and the people can get quite annoying. It's also very expensive to live here. I totally prefer the South, like Florida…haha.

I love it here in NYC. There is so many different parts, when people think of ny they think of manhatten. But the never think about the other citys inside NYC like staten island, queens,Brooklyn(which I love),Bronx. But you would love the city I promise.

I have another question.. Is NY so expensive that you can't do anything without money?

I have a friend who lives in NY and she says that the food is cheap there but according to what I've read, restaurants in NY are very expensive.
Most of the people say it is quite expensive, is it true or maybe it depends on where you go in the city? I always thought that there were good sales off so you could get cheap clothes in stores like Macy's, H&M... what about that?

What about the public transport, do you think it is efficient?

i think the second, third, and fourth all apply to me. i love to visit and there are some great places to see and really fun interesting things to do, but i would never wanna live there. it's just too....city-like. too many buildings and people, not enough grass and fresh air. definitely recommend seeing it at least once though!

Well, I'm not a city person, so I wouldn't prefer living there, but New York has a very historic history. My aunt used to live there but now she lives in Michigan.

I was just thinking about NY the other day. I think its way over-rated I live in New Jersey , so I've been to the city many times. Its cool to visit but I would never ever live there. I'm not a city person. In my opinion, manhatten smells like shit. I would never reccomend going on new years eve. What a friggin nightmare! You can find just about anything your looking for, shopping wise, but usually its not worth the hassle, plus its so expensive.

I moved to Jersey City four years ago and love it here. There are lots of affordable restaurants in NYC.

  • I've been to NY a couple times and I loved it! I'm going again this summer. It'll be the first time I go in the summer so does anyone know any special places to visit in NY during the summer?

  • well since im from NY(not the city) i do love it im from rochester though(next to lake ontario)((great lake)) although i hate the colder climate there and everybody in rochester has like a whinning sort of accent-like a more anoying version of a brookland accent but not as extreme, i have, thankfully, lost most of my accent...win:)

  • There are too many skyscrapers, it's like a corridor of endless structures and you can't see anything in the distance because you're sandwiched in.

    Never been there.
Also I don't do to well in crowded places and New York is really REALLY crowded so I'm happy to stay away from the place.
I was watching a video on YouTube that had footage of Times Square in New York and the whole time I was thinking "omg way too many people"

Ive lived here all my life and I hate it. Its a very rough place to grow up. I would reccomend visiting here, but only if you have a friend who knows NYC. otherwise you will get ripped off and may have fun, but still be ripped off. Its very expensive by all means wether youre a native or not. In my opinion youll only have fun if you got money (which most tourists are willing to spend a lil.) Use public trans if you come youll save money. Just make sure you can figre out the subway very confucing for newcomers. Clothes sales, no idk why you thought that. even chain stores like you said h&m and all that are more expensive then say the same store in LI because it is more expensive to pay manhatten rent.
