I do enjoy pineapple on pizza, but if given the option it's never the pizza I'll choose. There are better things that could be done with pineapple, and there are better things that could be done with pizza
I never used to like it. I wont order it kn my pizza but ill eat it on ocassion. Its not a hard “ewww pineapple doesnt belong on pizza” mentality.
Once when I was in Italy we ordered a pizza. When the waiter brought it to the table it was the weirdest pizza I ever had. It had various toppings but instead of being spread out equally around the pizza, each slice had it's own topping. And they were weird shit like hard boiled egg slices on one and peas on another. Not the kind of pizza I was used to getting in America.
I'm not refusing to accept the truth of what you say, but I lived in Italy for several years and I'm having difficulty imagining how what you describe happened.
I do remember occasionally seeing sliced hard-boiled eggs and peas on pizzas. The common topping that always struck me as a bit odd was sliced hotdogs (mainly aimed at kids, I believe), but really that's just another form of processed meat, so what the hey...
There are lots of snack bars in Italy where you can buy individual slices of pizza. I wonder if language issues resulted in you unwittingly ordering some sort of mixed pizza that happened to be the speciality of the pizzeria. Or maybe the waiter spotted some tourists that he could unload a bunch of leftovers on...
I assure you it happened and the story has been retold in my family for many years "Remember the time we got that pizza in Italy?".
There was a language problem and we did try to order a pizza with everything so I wonder if they thought we meant everything they had in the fridge? But it was funny how each slice had something different.
i wouldn't order it myself, but if it was already there or i was offered it i'd just eat it
I actually like pineapple on pizza more than I like ham or bacon. Although I do prefer just the usual pepperoni.
I don't mind pineapple in general, and I generally enjoy food with a mélange of sweet, sour and salty flavours. But the texture of food has always been important to me, and I find cooked, mushy pineapple not very nice.
In Italy, thin-sliced or grated zucchini is a pretty common pizza topping. Not exactly the same as cucumber, but pretty close.
My experience is that those pizzas are usually pizza bianca - no tomato sauce used - which I suspect a lot of people don't even realise is an authentic Italian thing.
Yes, I don’t think I’ve ever had a pizza topping I disliked. I am not picky with my food. The only type of pizza I hesitate to eat is soggy pizza.
I'll put it this way, if you like it, eat it for all I care, but stay away from me. Chances are I'm gonna puke on it. I can't eat pineapple and I can't even stand the smell. It's nothing personal towards pineapple eaters, but I've had my share of experiences....
Definitely not. I don't even like pineapple in general but on pizza is a big no it ruins the taste
