  • It's ridiculous. I was open to it, thought it could be a good idea, however I overestimated the maturity and intellect of posters.

It doesn't matter if I like it or not. My opinion on the matter is worthless.

Yup. Users opinions are very unimportant.

^I'm guessing this was the comment you were referring to?

That's pretty dumb, because I completely agree with what you said.

The comment that got moderated and ultimately deleted? Nah that was a different one. I'm holding back from what I really want to say cos I don't know I'm ready to be deleted again...

          • As the OP of this post, I can assure you there was no censorship of your comment on my end of things.

Oh I know. It was on a totally different post and it was definitely held for moderation.

I'm sorry if it seemed I was accusing you, that was in no way my intention.

Is there really no moderation at all? When did this happen? Someone fill me in please :)

Apparently with the new system it's supposed to be up to the users to report bad posts. There was a PSA a few days ago about it..

I like it. Since there is more content I find myself coming here a little more often. Feels good.

too many stupid trolls ruined it for everybody. Maybe what could stop people from trolling so much, is if they talk shit, people having the option to ignore all future comments from that person. Then it wouldn't be fun to troll if you know by talking shit that you'll be invisible.

I don't care either way. I'll always get Gold, so I'll always see all those posts. I guess it's cool that everyone else can see them too, now. It's democratizing. So yeah, I like it.

There's no point in going to the unmoderated section now though. If your reason for getting gold is because of that then IMO you're wasting your money...

That's true, and maybe a lot of people will be disappointed. But in reality absolutely nothing has changed. You get exactly the same content as what you got before. *Exactly* the same. The only change is that you are free to access it without paying. Surely that's a good thing? On top of that... if I pay for Gold, nothing has changed about the service I receive. Only people who don't pay for Gold are affected, and I don't consider what other people get part of my business.

Users can vote with their wallets if they think Gold isn't worth it anymore. Personally I can think of many worse ways to spend the equivalent of $5 a month than on keeping a space I care about maintained. You don't have to agree, and I'm sure hitting Udi in his pocket will make him change his mind.

I disagree. There HAVE been changes. Two of the main ones are picture posts and the new moderation system which makes unmoderated section for gold members pointless. Yes, I get the same content as before, but that's not the reason it bugs me. It's the pure principal of it. I'm paying for something that's supposed to be exclusive and when those exclusive features become non-exclusive (even to the benefit of the non-paying members), that's not right. It's something that I'm paying for, so it's definitely my business. Gold members are having previous gold-only benefits taken away without getting anything added.

Maybe IIN gold should be called something else and I'd probably be ok with it. As for now I really think it's being misrepresented by being called something special/exclusive when it's really not. What do we get now that's special and worth paying for? I'm going to look right now just to check:

          -PM's
It's a good feature. One that should probably be available to all users anyway. Probably the only feature right now that I might argue is worth paying for...

          -Highlighting new comments.
It's a nice feature, yes, but it hardly stands out on it's own as something that's worth paying money for.

          -Immediate access to member chat.
I'm from the time when immediate access was for all users, I find it rather discouraging that people should have to pay for that.

-Posts are fast tracked for moderation.
COMPLETELY pointless. Even worse is that because gold members' posts get approved first, they get pushed behind all the new posts when they show up on the main page resulting in them getting less attention. So that one is actually a detriment rather than a benefit.

-Ability to view and comment new posts waiting in the moderation queue.
This one too is COMPLETELY pointless now. The whole unmoderated section should be removed from the site, what point is there in it anymore?

          -Additional username colors.
Whoopie! I can look more flamboyant with my superior vibrancy! Lol. NOT worth paying for.

At the very least TheManagement needs to add new features or change the current description to make it something different.

I agree that he should change the description to something different, because it's out of date now. And I think that people who payed for a large amount of IIN Gold before the changes should have the option of a partial refund, because the details of the service weren't transparent enough.

Perhaps I just don't get the appeal of having something exclusive. I don't want to break out the word "selfish", but I can't think of a kinder word that accurately describes the state of wanting other people to have less just so you appear to have more by comparison.

Again, I disagree. I don't think I'm being selfish at all. You seem to see things differently than me on this issue for some reason. I'll let it go though.
