No. None of them. I believe in hard work not being a sucker for get rich schemes, making 'bookies' rich. My dad always said he would take up gambling the first time he saw a bookie on a bicycle - Never!!
No, recreation implies in your spare time for fun. It doesn't mean that your aim isn't to gain from it - unless you play for matchsticks or pennies as some of my husband's friends do.
Reading dappled's post made me think of something I heard from a broker - you've better odds betting on a horse race than the stock market coz there is a higher chance of picking a winner.
When I think of recreation, I don't think of making a serious investment, that's not the main purpose.
You'll have to tell me what is the purpose!
I can't imagine any thrill unless there was some sort of risk involved. Nor would I consider gambling an 'investment'. It's a dangerous hobby coz there's no limit to that addiction. Please remember not to risk more than you can easily afford to lose!!
Gambling is stupid, it's like a tax on people that are bad at math. I've worked in a casino and it's full of miserable people assisting retards in losing their money.
And I think it's great, freewill is such a great equalizer in the great equations of human existence.
yes it can be fun blackjack at the casino even tho the odds are against the punter
The closest thing I do to gambling is Poker and even then we don't use money.
I've always gambled but I do it on a small scale now. I play cards with friends, play the fruit machine or the quiz machine, but only a couple of quid here and there.
I used to back and lay sports events online and play the percentages. Laying a horse race in play is great if you're (a) at the track and have the gen a few seconds before everyone else, and (b) are good enough at maths to calculate what you should back/lay without wasting time tapping it into a calculator. Like anything, though, where there's money to be made, there are better people than me to exploit it. A lot of betting exchanges are now ridden with bots and the margins are much lower.
Betting on a large scale is a mug's game unless you can influence or predict the result. On a small scale, though, it's just a bit of fun.
Nope. Also, the stock markets are not gambling. Someone with a good understanding of economics can easily predict the stock market and make money from it with very little risk.
