I like when they make vampires more menacing psychologically than menacing physically. The whole thing about vampires isn't that they are capable of killing you with one punch, but that they would be more sadistic.
I like vampires from things like Being Human. Herrick was an amazing vampire.

I liked vampire movies until Hollywood saturated us with them - True Blood, Twilight, etc. Same goes for zombies.

I like the concept of an evil entity that sucks the life force from people. It can also be used as a metaphore for human behavior. Do I like them...I find them interesting and the subject matter makes for great stories.

I can't stand that Hollywood has taken an entertaining fictional creature and tyrned it into a pop idol. The Dracula movies with Bela Lugosi were masterpieces; these modern movies are crap.
I like good vampire movies (not twilight). But if vampires really existed I'd probably kill them if I had the chance (especially the ones from twilight).
I was obsessed with Hellsing for several years. Trinity Blood too.
And being the Johnny Depp fanatic that I am, I was really looking forward to him playing a vampire in Dark Shadows, but other than him giving a great performance (as always) I found the rest of the movie to be really lackluster. Disappointment is an understatement, especially since I usually love everything Depp does with Burton.
I loved dark shadows. It was kind of corny but Johnny makes a great vampire. It was not a fantastic movie but I did enjoy it. I also think johnny looks way better with short hair.
Wow, I was not expecting the poll creator to love Johnny Depp too! That's awesome. :) I dunno, I think I probably would have enjoyed Dark Shadows a lot more if it had come out back in 2010, as that was when I was first discovering Depp and Burton's movies and my expectations weren't overly high. Maybe that's why I enjoyed Alice in Wonderland as much as I did (even though the critics trashed that movie too) - I went in with no preconceived notions about it.
I also think johnny depp and tim burton compliment each other very well.
Well it looked really corny. So I expected it to be. However the fact it was kind of spooky and about a vampire made me really want to see it. I think he is a very versatile actor. I usually like everything that johnny Depp does. I liked swenny todd as well. I also enjoyed holloweener, Coroline, Paronorman. So I am really into those types of movies. If it has a dark flare or music in it usually is something I enjoy. Johnny depp is like alternative music. He plays all the weird roles. He also seems to be in a lot of tim burton films. I love anything tim burton creates.

It ended with a very good observation about traditional vampires of the past being much more interesting than the semi-human vampires of today (such as those in that shitty show "The Vampire Diaries") because in the past, vampires stalked something besides the local high school!
I like vampires that are what they are supposed to be. Monsters that are to be these feared creatures of the night. Entertainment today has just turned vampires into these sex symbols for braindead teenage girls. Vampires are pretty much dead nowadays.
If vampires were real they would probably be more like the ones in "30 Days Of Night". Real vampires would be ugly, disgusting and smell like the tampon disposal boxes in public restroom stalls.
How do you know some people would not find that attractive? Having such power over you. The dominance and everything.

Vlad the impaler went down as the inspiration for Dracula, but he was a warlord, his acts were just war crimes and scare tactics.
Elizabeth Bathory was the closest living thing to a real vampire, and also interesting in many other respects. Highly educated, spoke Hungarian, German and Latin. Reputed to be one of the most beautiful women in all of Europe. Also a very successful business women, even by todays standards.

Haha thanks for fixin up that paragraph. I can't say I know how they would look exactly other than that they would most likely mirror a human in some respects. I only come this conclusion because in mythology human form is there regular form and bat form was only ever used when escaping mysteriously or sneaking up on prey. Witch makes me think the bat form was just a way to explain a vampires advanced predatorial skill over the unsuspecting human. As to the question of blood sucking it is entirely possible that they drank through their fangs. I also believe this is the one definite truth about vampires if they ever were real as it is their trademark/calling card it defind them as what they are.

My point about them being a subhuman species or another species all together is like you say you must find the fact in the myth and the fact is that people from thse times who were attacked or saw a creature of that sort approach them would in those times with religion being there back fall for an explanation to everything would likely say they were these undead creatures or they could turn in to bats because they had the similarity of drinking blood and they were creatures of saitin because people were afraid of the unexplainable so to have even an explanation like that would give them some comfort. I believe if vampires did exist they were not shape shifting undead saitin owned monsters they were basically blood sucking species of human who were feared possibly because they looked monstrous or because they got a taste for human blood and preferred it so hunted man - I don't believe they could turn humans into vampires either I think that may be another myth made by fear- so man retaliated and lie man has done with many other species hunted them to extinction or artless into hiding for example britan use to have wolfs in medevile times but they were hunted to extinction in the country due to the fear they caused they the people back then killing off amazing species was just pest controle

Yehh those were some fucked up times I agree. who knows if there's any truth to the myth because people's fear was exploited on a daily basis back in those days and people were a lot more malleable. But to some extent I like theorise that vampires could have just been a predatorial species of human or ever extra terrestrial although the second guess is a long shot

Vampires can also turn into vampire bats. So to say they are real you must pick the facts that are possible. You must put together the facts that are impossible and possible. Must figure out the anatomy of such a creature. How they would come to be and if and how they could still exists today.
Well even if they are you have to think how they work. They are basically dead people. How realistic is a dead corpse walking around? It is based on the idea that you could bring a dead corpse back. If you think that is true. However if you are going to look at it more scientifically what would a vampire internal organs look like? How would they would. How did it digest blood? So some type of subspecies of human is very unlikely if you go by the myth. If you say a totally different creature you must figure out how that sort of anatomy would work. The fact they feed off the life of another creature is not that odd. Humans do that already. We kill a rabbit to feed our hungry bellies. Some creatures do feed off blood which are bats. Which some people believe vampires are. Some type of mutated bat like creature.
I think it would be cool to be a vampire without the whole devil thing and if you've seen lesbian vampire killers then then omfg I agree vampires are some of the sexies thing thought up by man or possibly myth made fact coz I believe there might some reality behind the myth of vampires in medevile times
All this stuff comes from when people did not know any better. The signs of a vampire are consistent to things that happen when your body begins to decompose. It it believed that without knowledge of this process could have been mistaken for someone who just ate. This was a documentary done on the history channel.In those time people were also very brutal and they had unique ways of punishing people. Vlad the impaler was known for this as well. Stories say he use to drink the blood of his victims after impaling them. He was a very brutal warrior. Some People believed him to be a vampire. However he lead and defended his people in the war of the Turks and Hungarians. So he is a hero to his people. Stuff like this was not unique in the time. People did different things like this to display power.I really do not believe that vampires are a real thing. However anything is possible. I would find it interesting if they did exsist. However given the fact they have so many different ideas about them I really doubt any of us would be able to defeat them.Royalty was among the cruelest it seems according to the incidents I have read. Violence seemed to be a norm in that time though. Elizabeth bathory is also thought to be a vampire. Though I will not go into that story.

I liked the first Lost Boys, the anime Vampire Knight, and The Little Vampire but other than those I haven't been swept away by vampires.
I hated Vampire Knight. For me it's like Twilight of anime. The only vampire anime I liked were Hellsing Ultimate and Shiki where vampires are actually creepy not bishounen in love with random girl.
"The Little Vampire" was so cute. I used to have a crush on Rudolph when I was a kid.

Oh, yeah. I did like Van Helsing but as always, I found myself rooting for the bad guys. I did see it again a few months ago and I realized that the characters were over dramatic. The worse were the Frankenstein and Dracula's Vampire sluts.
