In my opinion they went seriously off course after XP and although I hear 7 is usable, that was only after a truly intense backlash pushed them in the opposite direction from the mistakes they made on Vista. But aside from the concession, MS basically stopped trying to make the software people want and switched to telling us what we should want instead.
I didn't like Windows 8.x and 10 for the reason that it makes it look like a tablet more than a desktop.
Preferably the last Windows OS I would use 7.
Wow, you replied to a really old topic.
I suppose I should make an update. Since I posted the above, I got a new computer, which runs Windows 7 (I actually had to pay a little extra to get that instead of 8) and it is indeed usable, but aside from obviously supporting newer software, I can't think of many advantages it has over XP. In many ways it feels like a slight downgrade.
Oops - sorry. I was just browsing around for interesting topics to reply to and answer stuff, but didn't realize I was necroposting.
To be honest, I personally think Windows 7 is the last best OS in terms of what I define as a desktop. I don't really care much for Windows 8.x or 10.
I liked XP too (some of the games I had supported at least XP), but Microsoft had to ax it because it was too old.
Windows is okay (well, Windows XP and Windows 7 are okay), but it's not very interesting. As a computer geek who likes to have more control over the system, I prefer an OS with more programming and scripting capabilities built into it, like Linux.
Yes I like windows. Microsoft does not frustrate me like apple does. Every-time I use a apple computer I feel like smashing it open with a hammer.
It's the best there is, since mac and Linux don't support 90% of anything, however if there were a OS that has all the features windows does without all it's bugs and annoyances, Microsoft'll go bankrupt instant
The thing is Linux is slowly gaining traction (software development, and hardware driver support [even major manufacturers like Nvidia and AMD are pulling through]), although not by much as the money/industry (for software and games) is all going to Microsoft, and to some extent, Apple.
However for certain scenarios Linux may be better - but in the end, to each their own. Use whatever suits you best.
I use my PC and game with Windows and Linux.
I take it we're talking about Microsoft Windows here...
If so, no I do not like Windows. I do not use Windows. I use Ubuntu, have done for 7 years and have never looked back!
lol Thanks for the update. Although I must state my concern for the punctuality of your dumps. You might want to consider integrating more olive oil into to your diet (it doesn't make you go, it just makes it easier) and possibly some greens. I eat these regularly and can push a monster turd out in roughly 5 minutes on average.
In terms of computer operating systems (rather than smartphone and tablet OS) I've never tried anything else but Windows for comparison, but Windows does everything I want it to do. I didn't even hate Vista, although it's not like I was trying to use it for anything very complicated. I've got 7 at the moment and I like that, and I liked XP.
