Surely I am not the only one who tip toes around my pet because even a sniffle will wake it from its sleep and then I feel guilty

No...they sleep all damn day anyway. Theyre fine. Mine have always slept through everything, including when I vacuumed my dog.
Only if they are sleeping on my lap. Then I use it as an excuse to not move.

Tip toeing around the house so as not to wake your pet? That's a new one for me, I must say. If you are half as considerate to the people around you, you must be the nicest person, ever.
Not really because it wouldn't make a difference. One of my dogs will sleep through anything and the other one jumps at every sudden noise.
Yeah, most times I try to be quiet. I don't want to be a dick. If my cat is sleeping, let 'em sleep.
No, my cats routinely wake me up by trying to sleep on my face so they can put up with me not tiptoeing around them
My dog sleeps half the day away and all night so i don't worry about disturbing her sleep.
Even though I live with a tons of cats (well ~0.02 tons to be honest) I can't really say I've done this. Cats are very good at sleeping, so I'm not too worried about it I guess. I have been known to be quiet or even back out of the room too avoid frightening them however. A couple of them are very skittish.
