Do you own a computer?

Sorry if some of the poll options are chopped off, this site doesn't allow long descriptions.
I think you should be able to understand them for voting purposes.

This poll is for what you use/own at home, NOT at work.

Hi. I'm a software developer / website developer and I'm wondering how many people actually still own and use a desktop/laptop computer?

This helps me determine which platforms (computer, tablet, phone, etc.) I should write software for.

For example should I focus most of my time writing native applications for the desktop/laptop market or the mobile (phones/tablets) market?

Do you prefer certain apps on your computer because of it's large screen or do you do everything on your tablet / phone now?

Please give more information if you'd like to be more helpful, thanks.

This poll's main interest is to determine how strong the desktop/laptop computer market still is.

Thanks for voting and please be honest!

:)

I only use my computer, because I don't own any other devices.

I own a laptop. I don't like the tablets etc.. that the young people seem to be addicted with. I think that people who use tablets and phones are mostly those who play a lot and are 24/7 connected on social networks. Students and professionals would use a common computer.

I do have a laptop, but I mostly use my phone. It's easier to grab and take with me.

    • Don't you find the tiny screen obnoxious and harder to use than your laptop?

What kinds of things do you mostly do on your phone rather than your computer?

Got a laptop. Use it mostly. Got a smartphone. Use it more as a phone, than a computer XD

Uh, why is there no option for people who have a computer but not a smart phone or tablet?

    • Maybe I missed that one?
Funny because I'm one of them.

      :)

Too bad this site doesn't let me edit the polls after they're up and running.

I actually may not care if you don't have a tablet or smart phone.

My main interest is knowing if you've got a computer and use it even if you've other devices to use. It's mostly about preference I guess.

That makes easier for me to know to continue writing applications for the desktop/laptop markets and not worry so much about mobile right now.

So far most people have and use their computers or would if they had to :)

      Thanks.

How the fuck else are people going to answer this poll if they have no access to a computer?

I only use mac. Apple everything, tasty.

Just kidding, I have a pc, phone, tablet, and laptop. I am never not connected and have a device for everywhere. I need another. Something to use during sex as the others just don't have the right feel. Just kidding. I don't have sex.

But I do hate market research. That is the truth.

I would hate to not use a laptop or a computer anymore. I've never owned a tablet and I don't want to (they're always struck me as being quite cumbersome. Maybe that's unfair, but the whole idea really does nothing for me. Not that I don't think I could start enjoying one if I did get one.), and I would never use my phone for work because the screen is far too small.

I like a physical keyboard with keys that click when you press them down, not a picture of a keyboard that takes up valuable space on my screen.

I go back and forth between my tablet and my phone. I don't own a computer. But I want to buy a small notebook, and ditch my smart phone and get an old flip phone again. Like the good ol' days..

I know flip phones were bad ass.

These so called smart phones are a real pain when they call people by themselves and do shit because there's no cover/case built in.

you're a developer...and you are using this site to poll for your research? for which platform to develop for? i don't get it.

wouldn't the purpose, or the intended audience, dictate more which platform would be appropriate? i highly doubt this site and its users represent a source of valuable information on the subject...

but if so, I'm curious what types of stuff you develop.
