Do you prefer ancient history or modern history?

Let's say ancient history would be between the very first civilisations (Mesopotamia) up until about the year 1700, and modern history is from 1700 onwards.

    I enjoy reading about history, or watching documentaries, but I hated remembering important dates for school.

    I get remembering a few important ones like the start and end of both world wars, a few important Bulgarian wars, the year Bulgaria was established, a few dates about US history and that's it.

    Why would I need to remember when some history hot shot was born, or died?! I don't care when Churchill, or Ben Franklin, or Otto von Bismark were born. It's more important to know what they did, than to remember stupid numbers.

    If I'm watching a documentary, ancient history. If I'm studying about history, modern history because I feel like it's more relevant.

    I love learning about the 1800's,and imagining life back then. There's something about it, it's like magic. I love looking at photos from back then.

    Ancient unknown history.
    I am curious about things of the past, the near present is all well documented.
    1 How exactly were the pyramids built?
    What did they look like new?
    What did that whole area look like?
    2 Stone hendge, who built it?
    When and why?
    3 Any truth to the sword in the stone?
    4 Most civilizations though not connected had storys of dragons.
    Theres a lot of mystery in the past.

    I only like the most ancient forms of our history, including the natural history of earth and her inhabitants up until humans mastered agriculture. It all goes downhill from there.

      Yeah it was hard to pick an exact dividing point. I was going to pick the year 1600, but I don't know if I'd call the 1600's modern history.

        Ancient history is 60,000 BCE – 650 CE

          But history began with writing, and therefore with civilisation (about 3,000 BC). Anything before that is prehistory.

          I admittedly didn't use any official designation for the division between ancient history and modern history, I just regard it myself at about 1600-1700.

    Modern because its easier to understand but I don't car much about history at all tbh.
