Do you put water on your brush before or after the toothpaste?

I always put water and then the toothpaste, sort of like rinsing off the brush before I use it, but all of my friends put the toothpaste and then the water and called me weird? I always put the water on to clean it from anything that was on it between the times I used it but I was wondering what everyone else's habits are.

    I wash it off first, then put the toothpaste on, then put more water on to wet the toothpaste and to push it farther in the bristles.

    I do both before and after and then I floss and rinse with water or mouthwash.

    Wash it first to make sure there are no germs.
