Do you really hate new music?
A lot of you claim all modern music sucks, it's lame, talentless etc. I challenge you to name either 3 new artists or songs that are good and have come out in the past 5 years. You can do this!!!

I fucking love new music, anyone who says that modern music is rubbish doesn't have a leg to stand on because it's all around you, in mainstream music but mostly in the underground scene, but let's not forget that a lot of older bands who have become influential weren't well received at the time and were underground back then.
Also a lot of music in certain scenes are influenced by the past from post punk revival like the national and Interpol to new wave influenced bands like LCD soundsystem and la roux,
Yeah, you have shitty hip hop on The radio, people rapping about fake criminal personas but you have Kendrick's, rapping about social issues and Saul William's rapping about the human condition
I'll give 5 albums by 5 different bands
To pimp a butterfly-Kendrick lamar
Soul and jazz inspired hip hop, inspiring without being preachy, tackling issues of race and discrimination without being incendiary while taking a look at both sides
Benji- sun kil moon
Slow, lathergic and personal indie folk, it's probably the most personal and brutally honest album I've ever heard, sad but strangely uplifting in it's honesty
The money store-death grips
Experimental, glitchy, confrontational, industrial and abrasive, you either love it or you hate it, the pure imagination, strange instrumentals and aggression keeps me hooked because it manages to be aggressive yet catchy
The suburbs- arcade fire
Baroque indie rock influenced by people like Neil young and Bruce Springsteen but it manages to sound unique and modern not just a throwback, a modern masterpiece from start to finish
Allelujah! Don't bend ascemd- Godspeed you! Black emperor
Dramatic and atmospheric post rock, intricate instrumentals and incredible atmosphere, one of the only instrumental bands that manage to keep my attention
Only five? Damn, you make this difficult...
CHON - Woohoo! (2014)
Chevelle - La Gargola (2014)
Volbeat - Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies (2013)
Trivium - Vengeance Falls (2013)
Russian Circles - Memorial (2013)
Well, those were the first five in my music library. Hope somebody can appreciate them :)
Trivium :0. I sort of forgot about them after shogun. How do you like their latest album? And which album's your fav?
I thought their latest album (in waves?) was really good. It's on my wish list, but I'll have to listen to it again before i can give a better review. I don't have their full discography yet.
My favorite album so far is 'the crusade.' I'm just enthralled with the instrumental badassery at the end, and the whole album is just awesome.
'Vengeance falls' is really great too. I like the song 'villainy thrives' a lot.
I'm not really a fan of most modern day mainstream music. Makes me sound like a hipster. I switch to any music channel on TV and all I get is "I love you, baby!" music or "Look how hot I am!" music.
Not all modern music is bad, a lot of it is good.
and my brothers back at home with his beatles and his stones we never got it off on that revolution stuff
what a drag too many snags
now i drunk a lot of wine and im feelin fine
gotta race some cat to bed
oh is there concrete all around or is it in my head
He is going to lead these youngsters straight to the gates of hell.
Pray with me brothers and sisters.
Florence and the Machine
Of monsters and men
Hozier
Fitz and the Tantrums
Megan Trainor! Hehe
Some others you wanna look at are circa survive, Alexisonfire/city and colour, and minus the bear. All three have incredible variety in their music.
PVRIS (Paris), our last night, miss fortune. All new bands formed and signed within the last five years. Paris might be 6 years old. Paris is synth heavy pop-rock with a female front, lynn gunn has quite the set of pipes on her, she'd give hayley Williams a run for her money any damn day. Our last night has been around a bit longer, the just celebrated their tenth anniversary, but they're like THE quickest rising band right now. They are a rock band that has some metalcore influences. Miss fortune is only a year old however. Dropping a full length EP on signing to Sumerian records. A band born of social media, frontman Mikey sawyer looked long and far for his horsemen. I've never seen a group of more talented young men. This band is a bit heavier than the fist two. Down tuned With some killer guitar solos.
I like modest mouse's new album, strangers to ourselves.
I like war on drugs "lost in the dream"
I like peter bibby's "butcher, hairstylist, musician"
They're all albums from the last year that I like, I chose them because they're the most recent of the albums I have loved.
Favorite artists that I like:
Foster The People
Porter Robinson
Majid Jordan
Years & Years
CHVRCHES
Panama
Sohn
Nero
Kid Cudi

I generally don't like today's music though as you mentioned that you've heard many people say OP
I love old-school rock - believe me, it's 90% of what I listen to, but all is not lost. I like Fun., Lana Del Rey and Muse.
Modern music doesnt exactly suck but it doesnt realy do anything for you as well compared to old tracks.
I listen to rock mostly and the best hits i know were made in the mid 90's to around 2008/2009 thereabouts.A good e.g is the hit single by joan osbourne 'What if God was one of us' ....no matter how many times i hear that song it still 'feels' the same way.
I'd say the same is true for other genres of music.
House is the only modern music i can say isn't that bad.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h9QFXviJ2E
And have you listen to sun lux before, that shit is so wierd/progressive/experimental, that it hits the right balance for me and i really dig it, it makes me dance
I like their older albums better. That newest one just had a different vibe to me. The only song I much cared for off that album was torch.
well i added that to my watch later so i will definately check it out more, i may know their songs, just not who it was, My music taste are from my Dad. we lived in a house full of vinyl and CD all over. Music of all genres and eras are in my blood
Also this is the Sun Lux song that i can't help but dance too

I like songs by Wolfmother.
1. White Unicorn
2. Dimension
3. Love Train
Also, the Arctic Monkeys. Pretty much the entire album, Whatever People Say I am, That's What I'm Not.
Technically that wolfmother album is older then 5 years cause it came out my senior yeah but great pick :)
I thought about that! But I was like, naaah, noone will know how old it is exactly. I was wrong!! The Arctic Monkeys album is older than 5, too.... I still consider them somewhat new.
I tried posting a reply 3 time on phone, but that shit wonky like a willy
But i was racking my brain for more "rock" music i liked in last half decade that you may like.
Do you know BRMC (black rebel motorcycle club" or Rival sons
