Do you redeem aluminum cans and/or other refundable containers?

Do you take your refundable bottles/cans to the store for your refund? Or if your area does not have the refund policy, do you take them to a recycling center for cash?

    I used to go out early in the morning and look for aluminum cans out in the street every day,then go sell them to a scrapyard at the end of the week to supplement my income.

    We don't have a recycling center that gives money. We just recycle it and the trash man picks it up. They have two trucks at a time, a recycle truck and a trash truck.

    we recycle aluminum and other metal all the time. Would do the same for glass and plastic, but no one collects those where im at

    i only throw them out when im in public places, because i know there will be people picking it up from the trash.

    I use to, now I leave the 30 cents it took a week to accumulate on the sidewalk for the homeless.

        You read that really wrong. It has never been about money. It's about making it easier for the people who dig through my trash.

          Yeah but you're still saying that it isn't worth YOUR time to recycle, you're above that. You're still doing it for other reasons than just for recycling alone.

            You still misunderstand. I don't actually mean "trash". I sometimes forget that people outside my circle define this word differently. I know I should be more careful.

            So why do you recycle? Let me tell you why I do. It's because there is no other alternative. I am well aware that a garbage can doesn't just make it go away. I respect this earth, she gives me life, she gives me sustenance. And what I give to her, she will give to me in return. I choose to love her. So I don't rape her if I have any control over it. You don't think, I think it is worth my time? You really don't know me at all. This is all I ever do with my time.

            All my waste is sorted into recycle bins and my actual trash is the smallest of them all. The average American produces 4 pounds of trash in a day. I barely create that in a week- and that's only because I have to clean out the cat's litter box. I check the numbers on my plastic tubs and put the right ones in the plastic bin. The ones that the recycle man won't collect go into a bin that gets taken to the transfer station myself. Except for the damn lids, but I'm pretty sure there's an art project hiding amongst those. Shit, I even wash and reuse my plastic bags. (But not the ones for cat litter of course.) Personally, recycling is for the weak. If you really want to make a difference you will reduce and reuse. Recycling is really the lazy person's way out.

            Please go spend your energy on someone who actually needs a crash course in waste management and get your wanna be hippie stink off of me.
